The idea of this post totally amuses me, so like it or not I am doing it. XD You know how sometimes you'll get little pieces of a movie or a TV show stuck in your head, and you cannot for the life of you remember what you know it from, and it drives you all to pieces and when you finally do figure it out it's the most obvious thing ever? Yeah. I find it really interesting, because usually I feel like the scene is going to turn out to be from something new and exciting, but it never is, and so I always end up a little bit disappointed. But here are three pieces of scenes I've had stuck in my head at one point or another. How well do you know how my brain works? Can you figure these out? XD XD

1) [livejournal.com profile] athena_crikey might remember this one, it's from early high school or something, hahaha. One day I had the phrase "You're lying!" stuck in my head, in a really angry man's voice. I knew it was from an important emotional scene, and I knew it was from a relatively recent animated movie, and for the longest time I thought it was Tarzan. But it wasn't, it was . . . Hercules! X) From the scene where Hades reveals that Megara was working for him all along and Hercules is loathe to believe it.

2) This one bothered me for an entire bus ride home even though I kept guessing the movie it was from and then discarding that guess. A scene between two characters, both men, one of them cripplingly old and the other very young. The younger one does something that totally amazes the older one, but the praise he gives is really sort of adorable, like, "That's marvellous! Oh, that's charming!" The older character is sitting in a rocking chair and they are in a little gray room, and it's live action. It was . . . Amadeus! From the very beginning, when Salieri plays "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" and the priest is totally impressed. Note that my brain switched their ages, haha. I was totally impressed when I realized this was from something I had been guessing all along. I thought it would be something much cooler than that. XD;

3) This one bothered me for about twenty minutes last night, but considering how obvious it seems now, I think even twenty minutes is too long. A male character is sitting and looking depressed. A female character walks up behind him and says, "I'm sorry," in a soft, sort of saddened voice. The male character shrugs it off, saying something like "don't worry," even though it's something pretty bad that's happened to him. (The scenario I had come up with was that he had been convinced someone would be somewhere and they had gone back to find that someone only to be disappointed. This made me think it was Mulan, like if Mulan apologized to Shang after they discovered his father had died, but nope.) Then the next scene begins with a loud sound effect. I kept picturing this on an airship and so I kept thinking it had to be Escaflowne, but even though I couldn't decide if this scene was animated or not, I knew it was in English. After I remembered the rest of the male character's line, I realized that it was . . . Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. XD (Elizabeth: "I'm sorry, Jack." Jack: "They done what's right by them. Can't expect more than that.") OMG so obvious, right? Except that I totally changed the setting from a rowboat with three characters to an airship with two. Hahahaha, this was so disappointing too! It's funny how you get these things stuck in your head and you're like, "I know I've seen this six thousand times," but you still feel like when you realize what it's from, it'll still feel like something awesome and new. But nope. Not so much. Haha. :p

Watch this entry get zero comments. XD hahahaha! That's cool; I'm down with that. XD

(When I see this Aladdin icon out of the corner of my eye, I keep thinking it's an icon of Rika in 3nin Matsuri. Hahahaha, as if the reddish parts were the wig? Hahaha, yes.)

Okay, must comment: I love how your posts are like ... little vignettes from your life, with discussion and spectulation all rolled into one. It's not just you going "hi, guys, had a bad day, ate some toast, went to school ..."

I always look forward to reading your posts, although sometimes I am disappointed when I can't understand them - all the energy you put into your J-pop entries, and I have no idea what you're talking about! Alas/earwax. (One day that joke will get old ... but it is not this day!)

I am also impressed that even though I am familiar with all three of these movies, I could not guess a single one.

Aw, I like this. :3 Although sometimes I do read LJs that simply describe their day and I feel like that's what I should be writing. But I dunno, I just don't really think like that I guess ...

I always look forward to reading entries from you and Athena. I wish you guys posted even half as much as me. :(

(One day that joke will get old ... but it is not this day!)

Indeed, not this day!!!!

Hahaha, here are the e-mails we will send betaraider from Disneyland:

~~
Save me. Sarah is telling the Agrabah joke again. Alas/earwax. Luv, Shannon.
~~
Hey, did you know Agrabah is only half a day's walk from Disneyland? HAHAHAHAHA. By the way, Shannon is telling the Dumbledore joke again. I can't take much more of this. ;_; ;_; From Spuzzy.
~~

Wow, look how much more concise your e-mail is than mine. Isn't that always the way. *sigh*

I could not guess a single one.

I think maybe it's easier when you're the one whose head they're stuck in, because you can hear everything perfectly and it feels so very specific. But rereading these descriptions of mine, even though in my head they felt so precise, on the screen they sound so very vague. So I am kind of not surprised you didn't get them. Although I still think the PotC is way obvious, hahahahaha. Maybe I confused it with the stuff about the airship. But that's what I totally thought it was!! XD

Also, I can't read the writing on your icon (although I am enjoying Aladdin's grin, with boxers on his head! I like how - in Agrabah - the animators will include a pair of boxers. Or am I misremembering, and it is just a blanket in a peaked shape that makes it look like a pair of boxers? hmmmm ...)

I couldn't read it either, I had to squint and then Google to figure out the rest of it. XD "Don't you feed me lies about some idealistic future." It's the kind of line that I don't think applies to Aladdin - he's pretty confident when it comes to his "idealistic future" -, but I feel like it could apply to someone in his situation. And so I find the icon pretty interesting. And a nice opposite to my "someday" Aladdin icon, eh? Eh? XD XD

In that picture he's not wearing a pair of boxers, but he has a pair on his head just seconds before, for the "You think that was easy?" line. XD And of course, when he swings down the clothing line, he gets to wear a bra. XD I imagine there was one writer who really thought it would be hilarious to throw a bunch of underwear jokes into the movie and the rest of the writers were like, "Augh, fine, let's just do them and get them over with." And so they threw them all into the first ten minutes of the movie. Let's not forget about Prince Achmed~~~ XD XD XD;;;;;

Haha, I feel like you have told me this before, about Mulan. But it's okay because I forgot. XD Mulan is not a terrible movie to represent Disney in your brain, don't feel ashamed! XD

Hahaha, this has been another useless comment from Sarah. XD

I was gonna point out how you got the characters mixed up, then I read your comment a little more carefully.. I do the same thing all the time, though with movies and tv shows. I have to just keep repeating the line in my head, and then eventually I get an idea of what the person sounds like, then eventually I get it. It drives me crazy, though. Thank God for IMDB!
