Am not depressed today because last night I went with a friend and her mother to see a certain movie again (it wasn't even my idea this time!!), and this morning I had pizza and saw bits of Gone With the Wind and so far today have chatted with three of the friends that I met in Winnipeg so life today is not so bad at all. ;D
Haha. Well, all righty then. ^^;
Edit: And now I take this useless entry and add a story to it! XD; One of my favourite parts of the whole Winnipeg trip was one evening when I was about to phone my parents with the payphone that was on the main floor, just across from the front doors of the residence building. I heard this voice coming from outside, talking in a very cartoon-y voice in English that was kind of accented, saying stuff like "Let me in~!" :P I didn't let people into the building if I hadn't seen them before, because I'm paranoid like that. But this guy had woken me up from a nap earlier that day by yelling up to one of the SLP guys on the fifth floor (stuff in French like "Are you coming down yet? I'm waiting!"), so I figured if he knew him, it would be okay to let him in. So I did. (How exciting is this story?? Yeah I know whatever.) And then in French he apologized for bothering me, and I replied "Oh, that's okay," and he was all surprised when he found out I had understood him and asked if I speak French, and I said "just a little bit," and then he said something about how he was pleased to meet me, haha, but by that time he was halfway down the hall and I wanted to get back to the phone so yeah.
I know that's less than an amazing story, but I thought it was such an awesome experience because I was using French with a native speaker who I barely even knew, and he understood me, and it wasn't even like I had time to prepare any of my responses or anything, and I know I didn't say a whole lot, but for some reason I thought it was just so awesome being able to communicate like that.
I am so glad I went to Winnipeg, because although I didn't learn a huge about of vocabulary and I am still in no way fluent in French, I believe I am much more confident and able when it comes to speaking and, especially, listening to the language. So that makes me happy. *^_^*
