So my mom and I had to RUN LIKE THE WIND through the Seattle airport in order to make our connection (something that is becoming much too familiar to me) but we have made it home! Of course I would have been happy to stay in Anaheim, even though the parks this week were INSANELY BUSY. We didn't really have a choice of dates, because we had to go during my mom's week off, and yeah I don't think I would recommend mid-April (spring break! high school band/choir/dance trips everywhere!!), but by hitting the popular rides during the slower hours and by using Fastpass and hitting the shows and less popular rides during the busy hours, we managed to have a most excellent trip. :)

Anyway, although I know I fail at trip reports, I hope to manage a very lazy one after I have had some sleep. Right now I just want to type up some of my favourite jokes from my beloved Aladdin musical (which we saw three times) before I forget them. I definitely admit that the rest of this post is for me, but you are of course allowed to look at it too. :) (Did I ever even type up the jokes from my 2007 visit? Oh well, add that to my massive to-do list I guess~)

Wish rules:

Genie: "I can't bring anybody back from the dead. But if you have an iPhone, there's an app for that."

Genie: "I can't bring anybody back from the dead. Why? Because I'm not Edward from Twilight. Sparkle! Sparkle!"
(Does Edward ever raise the dead?? I say the "Sparkle!"s make it funny either way. xD )

(Also in this scene he greeted Carpet with "Hey, Shamwow!" hahaha rude!!)

As the curtain rises to reveal the amazing last "Friend Like Me" set:

Genie: "Look at all the money we spent!"

After Aladdin promises to wish for Genie's freedom:

Genie: "Al! That's so Raven!"
(I AM STILL NOT OVER THIS JOKE'S EXISTENCE
BRB USING THIS AS AN ACTUAL PHRASE FROM NOW ON)

After Jasmine rejects Ali and everyone leaves:

Genie: "Where are you going with that umbrella? Ella? Ella? Hey! HEY!!"

Genie: "Hey, don't leave! That wasn't as bad as the Spider-man musical!"

During a set change:

Genie: "I dunno Al, but I feel like the walls are closing in on us."
(lawl lawl lawl because they are.)

Before "A Whole New World":

Aladdin: "I'm just a street rat."
Genie: "What are you talking about, your name is on the marquee outside!"

Aladdin: "I'm just a street rat."
Genie: "No you're not, look at what you've got: your own movie, your own TV series, your own bail bonds company ..."

After "A Whole New World":

Genie: "Can we give you guys a couple name? Like Brangelina? How about ... Jasalamadin!"
(The guy who played Genie in the second show we saw was FANTASTIC omg. This joke was especially great because at the end of the show, after the sultan gives Jasmine the okay to marry whoever she wants, Genie came onstage all "Awwww, Jasalamadin!" AND I DIED.)

Genie: [typing on the lamp] "'I'm bald, I'm blue, and I'm only wearing pants.' Twitter!"

Genie: [typing again] "'The song is over. And Carpet is tired. lol.' Just updating my status!"

After Aladdin says he can't wish Genie free:

Genie: "I could really use a wish right now, a wish right now, a wish right now."

Genie: "You're like Christina Aguilera's lyrics at the Superbowl. NOT RIGHT!"

In the shower:

Genie: "Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday ..."

Insulting Jafar:

Genie: "Poof, you're the sultan ... vampire Lady Gaga."

[A baby had been crying in the audience for like ten minutes:]
Genie: "That baby's crying because of you." [huge audience reaction] "I got your back, kid." [fist pump]

Genie: "Jafar's so ugly, when he goes into the Haunted Mansion, he comes out with a paycheque! If he lived in the North Pole, he'd live in an ugloo! On Halloween, he has to trick-or-treat over the phone! When he walks past a bathroom, all the toilets flush! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!"

Getting rid of Iago:

Genie: "I've got two words for you: Angry. Birds."
(My managers are all obsessed with that game so I was most amused.)

Also, the "Tiki Room reject" line got a RIDICULOUS amount of laughter the first time we saw the show. Because Iago used to be in Walt Disney World's Tiki Room but recently got kicked out? I feel that is probably too obscure a path to take with that joke but I am enjoying thinking that's why the audience found it so funny.

Also also, the third show we saw was the last attraction of our trip, and after the bows Genie and Carpet stayed onstage and tried to see who could get their side of the audience to cheer the loudest (lol, this Genie quite enjoyed seeing how loud he could get us to cheer and how quickly we could stop). So our last view of our last attraction was the two of them making neener-neener faces at each other as the curtain went down. xD <3

Also also also, at one point during the first show, Genie did some MJ dance moves that ended with a "Who's bad?" and you guys I AM SO GLAD THAT CAPTAIN EO IS BACK, there were so many people wearing EO shirts and aaaaah it was awesome but I seriously need to cut this entry off here and go pass out. GOOD NIGHT <3

GOD, I love this musical. When I saw it, my favorite part was right after Aladdin tried to propose to Jasmine and it's just the two of them left on stage. Aladdin is all D:?? and Genie is like "you shoulda put a ring on it" and starts to do the dance XDD

Ooh, have you been to Disneyland? Or did you see a video of it? Either way, YES it is such a good show, definitely one of California Adventure's best attractions. :D I'm really curious now as to whether the musical in Seattle will have room for Genie to improvise. I hope so! Every live Aladdin show I've seen has had some amount of improvisation in it, so it would be weird to see one that didn't!

I went there last year! I sat in my seat dying of pleasure XD. I hope they bring that element of improv into the show because it's fantastic

I would love to meet up on one of your trips! I am kind of bummed that a bunch of things happened as soon as I left California for the first time in years ... like oh, I dunno, SM Town's concert in LA. But I don't plan on returning to an out-of-state school so there'll be plenty of time for me to have fun back home now. :)

Man I know!! I was going to message you about it except that I was going with my mom (and yeah, I suspected you were still out of the state). One day! :)

I remember hearing about the SM concert ... has that happened already? It would've been neat to go to, although at the same time I only know like two of the groups in it haha.

Once I'm back home and working, I'd like to think about getting an annual pass again. I know I'll be going at least once this summer. For me it's premium or bust and that's too much of an investment right now. We'll see how it goes~

Yep, that was last year. I left for orientation on August 18th, and the concert was September 4th. I would have gone for BoA, SuJu, SNSD, and f(x). So close and yet so far! I just wish we knew whether or not they'd be returning. D: On a happier note, kanonxkanon will be in Anaheim this summer and I am not missing that. ♥
