So I woke up this morning to an e-mail from the Latin American Film prof, all "Sign up for the tutorial! The first one was yesterday!" I wonder, is it my fault or his fault that I read through the entire course outline and never once realized there was a tutorial? Either way, once I went to my two classes today and decided I liked them, I went ahead and dropped it. Sorry film class, perhaps I will return to you in my next semester~. In the meantime, my final two classes are:

Spanish: History of the Spanish Language
Oh my god you guys, this prof is straight out of a movie. A completely dry sense of humour, tangents everywhere, a tendency to stop himself mid-sentence to pause and say, "That's interesting!" One of my favourite moments in today's class:

Student: "Can we write the assignment in Spanish?" (The class doubles as a Medieval Studies class so it's taught in English.)
Prof: "You can write it in any language I understand." *long pause, unreadable expression*

Man this class better live up to my expectations because right now I am expecting it to be AWESOME.

Spanish: Theatre of the Golden Age
There are only four other students in this class auggggh small classes stress me out. Especially when one of the other students is a native speaker, which seems to always happen when I take small classes! But I've had this prof twice before (he remembered me!! he was all "It's been a while since I've seen you" and I was all "Yeah like five years" and he was all "WHAT" - maaaaan I can't believe I took those two classes way back in SECOND YEAR) and I like his classes well enough so hopefully this goes well! We're reading four places and then working on a ~critical edition~ of another oh man I was so surprised. We have to like transcribe it and everything and I must admit, I am kind of looking forward to it. Hopefully I don't eat those words later. :3

One thing I quite like about both my Spanish lit. classes this semester is that both the profs took a portion of the first class to talk about how they know we'll be reading difficult works, and they know we're still in the process of learning the language, and so it's okay if we don't understand everything the first time through it, but together we're going to work on it and discuss in Spanish and write in Spanish and use these works to get better in Spanish! I often lament the fact that once you hit third year in university language classes you spend a lot less time on acquiring vocab and studying grammar and a lot more time reading literature that is sometimes very far above you, so I'm quite happy that both of my profs addressed that concern. Even though I would still much rather be filling out verb conjugation charts than writing essays, I dunno maybe that's just me. x)

In news you don't want to hear about, work is stressing me out (I was SO LOOKING FORWARD to Sunday, I changed my availability to give them enough shifts but to allow me to have Sundays off, this Sunday was going to be my first full day off since December 30, after working full time all December all I wanted was a day off ... AND THEN THEY SCHEDULED ME. Now I have to wait more than a week for my next chance at a day off and who knows if I'll even get one fffffffffffffffffff I am in a really unhappy place with this job right now) and this book on libraries is stressing me out (I have to be done with it by Saturday and I still have seven chapters left, brb not sleeping tomorrow night), but hopefully once the latter is finished I will be a bit more relaxed about the former. :|

That's okay! I missed the first day of the class I'm TAing for because I quite literally forgot about it. When it doubt, blame the admin. Because there's a 90% chance it's their fault anyways.

"You can write it in any language I understand." *long pause, unreadable expression* Ahahaha, somebody had better take a shot at kling-on. XD

once you hit third year in university language classes you spend a lot less time on acquiring vocab and studying grammar and a lot more time reading literature <--This was not true at UBC, at least not for Japanese. At least, they split the classes into two options- kanji and reading, or oral and conversation, and in oral and conversation is was pretty much the same as ever.

I dislike your work right now too! I hate it when you get your schedule all set-up and then they ignore it. >.
