let me see them hands up high

So today was my first day back at school, and while nothing super exciting happened it was still a pretty good day. My classes so far:
French: Writing in French I
For six years the only French I've regularly been exposed to is what can be found on the Notre-Dame de Paris soundtrack, so I was pretty sure I wasn't going to understand anything in this first class. Well I win forever because I understood everything!! And the prof seems really nice and awesome. At this point I'm not super excited about the content of this course (I have to reread Métaphysique des tubes which is an easy read but really bizarre), but it'll probably be okay. At the end of today's class we had to write a little bit about our majors, our previous French classes, and any Francophone places we've visited, just so the prof can get an idea what level the class is at, and so long as I didn't accidentally write anything in Spanish, I'll be happy. (Although I did write one line with Spanish grammar because I could not think of how to say it in French - oh well, maybe I'll be lucky and it'll be the same, haha!)
English: Introduction to Literary Traditions and Transformations
Aw yeah first year English. We got the syllabus in advance and it was all "SIGN UP FOR A TUTORIAL NO EATING NO LAPTOPS DON'T E-MAIL ME ESPECIALLY DON'T E-MAIL ME SMILEY FACES ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY," so I was surprised when the prof turned out to be really friendly!! You can't judge a prof by their course outline, I guess. Anyway, we're reading some pretty basic first year English stuff - "Hamlet," Emma, Tess of the D'Ubervilles, Heart of Darkness - and perhaps your opinion of me will drop if I admit the only one I've read before is "Hamlet." Anyway, I think this class will turn out to be better than I've been anticipating. My favourite part of today was when the prof was explaining his no laptops rule, and talking about how "when the person sitting in front of you has their laptop open, you can see how many Facebook friends they have ... and judge them accordingly." Bazinga!
Spanish: Spanish American Literature, 1492-1900
This prof doesn't have the best reviews on Rate My Prof (yes I use that site, don't lie you do too) so I was a little nervous going in, but she seems to have a good sense of humour and so far I have no complaints. One of the last things we're reading in this class is a story by Ricardo Palma, and the first thing I thought when I saw that was, "I've been there!" because Lima is silly with things named after him. xD (I never made it to his museum because they had really weird hours of operation, but I did quite often cross his street and wander through his cultural centre!) Anyway, that was my exciting moment for the day haha.
Tomorrow I have a class on the history of the Spanish language (taught in English but it somehow counts as a Spanish credit) and another Spanish literature class (taught by a prof I've had twice before! He might even remember me, I'm pretty sure I said something in every single class the last semester I had him - mostly because whenever he called on me I had indeed done the readings, so he called on me a lot!), and then on Tuesday I have a Latin American film class. I'm going to have to drop one of these classes at some point - it's finally hit me that I've enrolled myself in six classes and somehow intend to keep working two or three days a week as well, and the last time I tried this I was only in second year and I still managed to fail at it - and right now the Latin American film class is looking like it might be the one to go. Not because of the subject matter, but because we've got the syllabus for that one as well, and it requires nine responses on movies viewed in class and one on a movie you seek out yourself, an essay, and a group oral presentation. The first two are okay but the last one? I am not in the vein. But I guess I'll hang onto it for now just in case one of my classes tomorrow turns out to be horrible!
So in conclusion, right now I love school and am very happy to be back, but just wait till I have to write my first essay, oh god I hate essays so much D: D: D: /why Sarah could never be a grad student
QUICK CHANGE OF PACE before I go to bed - I still haven't loaded everything onto my iPod that I want to load onto my iPod, in fact I still have two full shelves of CDs left to rip, but even so here is my current Top 25! Because I am enamoured with the idea of a player that keeps track of how many times you listen to a song. xD
