Backstory: I sponsor several children through Children International.
At the same time as I sent Michelle her Special Gift, I sent one to John Michael, who I started sponsoring the day after I started sponsoring Joseline. (lol, I would totally not remember this except that the CI web site tells you this stuff now, I'm not really sure why. x) ) John is six years old and lives in the Philippines with his mother and two older siblings.

When I received these pictures I was kind of amused because it seems so many of the kids from the Philippines are photographed in front of this red backdrop (I'd seen other people's pictures of their sponsored kids in front of it), but I had never gotten a picture of it myself! Finally, the red steps make an appearance in my life. xD

This is my favourite of the pictures. :)
John and his family received a dresser, clothing, toys, groceries, and whatever that thing in front is. The report just lists it as "home furnishing," but in John's letter he refers to it as a "drainer." So ... yeah.

I feel in a way that this report is the most honest one I've ever gotten, lol, because this is how it starts: John Michael and his mother were very much thankful with the gifts he received from his sponsor. He was so glad that he immediately told his mother to purchase a toy for him. hahaha, just like a six-year-old. xD
I also enjoy this Engrish: The newly purchased clothing, footwear, other accessories for John Michael really added a smile to him. Cute. :)

John himself wrote (in much better writing than I was mustering up at his age): You've given clothes, toys and plastic drawer for me, and groceries and drainer for my family. It will really help us a lot for a better living. I feel so lucky and blessed to have you as my sponsor, and in return I will study hard and be a good child.
This is probably the last sponsorship entry before I leave on my trip; I don't expect Peter or Joseline's IGP reports to arrive for another few weeks. But now that I've written that, maybe I'll be proven wrong again! xD
