I'm late, but today was Elvis Presley's 75th birthday! My mom is a fan of Elvis and, as a result, he's the topic of several anecdotes from my childhood. Way back when, January 8th was actually the date I was due to be born, leading my parents to refer to me as "Elvis." Or, if I am to be completely honest, "Elvis Arnold." Whenever I heard this story as a kid, I always assumed Arnold was Elvis' middle name. It wasn't until we got a channel that showed reruns of Green Acres that I learned that the "Arnold" in my nickname actually came from a fictional pig. :| I ... don't even know, lol.

Anyway, so yes, that's my connection with Elvis - until I was born, I was named after him. xD Oh, and if you had asked four-year-old me what my favourite song was, I do believe I would have said "All Shook Up." xD That plus "Beat It" plus some Sharon, Lois and Bram ... yeah, that's pretty much all the music I listened to as a preschooler, lol. xD

3. Is your taste in movies, TV and music totally different than it was five years ago or is it mostly the same?: Mostly the same. I think most of my tastes have stayed pretty constant.

4. What do you have a bigger collection of, DVDs or music?: DVDs for sure, although it's not like I have a specific reason for this or anything.

5. The last song you listened to: I have been rediscovering the J-pop group EARTH these past few days, so ...

6. Your favorite 90s Disney movie: Aladdin!

7. What's one of your favorite lyrics? Since I'm now listening to BoA's "Listen to My Heart," I'll be a little lazy and say I've always enjoyed the Engrish line "never say ever say never ever say." It's like, no native speaker would come up with a line like that because it doesn't make grammatical sense, but at the same time I dunno, I think it sounds cool! :)

8. Has a show's cancellation ever pissed you off? Yeah, pretty much every time a show I like gets cancelled I get all annoyed. This doesn't happen that often, there aren't many shows I like!

9. The last DVD you bought: The first season of Get Smart for my dad's Christmas present. I can't actually remember the last DVD I bought for myself, unless it was the DVD that came with Maki Goto's Sweet Black album, and anyway that kinda doesn't count!

10. If you're an MJ fan, have you been inspired by him to dress a little fiercer? lol, no. I am pretty much a slob and probably always will be. x)

11. What is the last show you watched after hearing how good it was and ended up liking? I ... don't know? I don't watch very many shows!

12. Do you mostly buy albums, DVDs and books from stores or online? Probably about half-and-half? I do buy online more than a lot of people I know but that's because a fair amount of the stuff I buy can't be found in North America! Actually, the last thing I bought online was a book that's out of print, so yeah, that too!

13: Got any action figures? I have a Mozart action figure that the_wykydtron bought me! But other than that, not really.

16. Do you make entries on your personal LJ often or just every now and then and mostly post in communities? I post pretty frequently in my personal LJ. Until this summer, I only rarely posted in communities; now I post in them slightly more. x)

17. What are your top five most used tags? SO BORING. "Family," "school," "teevee," "internets," "friends." And the sixth most used is "work." :| Only after that does it get interesting, with "Morning Musume" leading the fandom-related tags. xD

18. Do you mostly use one icon or are you always switching around? When I only had a free account, I mostly used one. Now I try to switch it up a bit.

19. Have you ever created a community? hahaha wow, I don't know if anyone knows about this, but the answer is yes! I've actually created more than one, but the one I'll tell you about today is mameshiba. I'm not the mod anymore, but I'm still pretty happy to see it's still active. (Oddly enough, last night I had a dream that Morning Musume's new single was a rip-off of Maaya Sakamoto's "Mameshiba." AND MAN THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.)

20. What three people on your friends list do you talk to the most outside of LJ (like AIM/phone/irl): hahaha I have spent too much time thinking about this question, but it's probably: the_wykydtron (e-mail/phone/irl), then athena_crikey (e-mail/irl), then trumpydoesmagic (AIM/Skype).

21. Is it super embarrassing to read your old entries? It depends how old they are. More than a couple years old though and the answer is yes. D: I've been thinking of going back and locking a bunch of them, but I haven't gotten around to it.

22. What's the longest amount of time you've spent in a party post? It's sadly been ages since I've been in a party post, but as I recall, there was one epic day where I was just short of twelve hours when I suddenly found myself the last party poster standing. MY LIFE, YOU ARE JEALOUS OF IT.

23. Do you use meme references in real life to people that you forget would have no idea what the hell you're talking about? I would, but I usually catch myself in time, lol.

24. Have you had other LJs or only stuck with one? And if you've had others, what was your reason for getting a new one? I had one LJ for a while when I wanted somewhere to post in French, and I had another LJ where I was posting my NaNo 2002 (this LJ still exists, I just haven't posted in it for ages), but since 2001 (omg so long ago), this has always been my main one! :)

25: When you go outside do the trees and bushes watch you or do they keep to themselves? Everyone who says the trees and bushes don't watch them is WRONG.

26: Have you ever had a fear that you KNEW was lulzy to have? ... Spontaneous human combustion? D: D: D:

27: Do you have something like a disco light or lava lamp? My brother once had a giant lava lamp which really freaked me out, I felt like it was such a fire hazard. My grandparents have two lava lamps on their TV stand, crazily enough! As for me, the coolest piece of lighting I own is a multicoloured fibre optic light sort of like this one. It was a birthday gift from some of those relatives I never see, but I love it so much. I only turn it on every once in a while because I am dreading the day when it dies. D: OH WAIT I LIED, I also have a lamp that dolphins swim around when you turn it on, my grandma got it for me for Christmas one year because she had a similar lamp (but with flying birds!!) that I loved watching. Yeah I need a hobby, what else is new.

28: Did you know that "a man a plan a canal panama" is the same thing backwards? If not, did I just blow your mind? Yes I did know that, haha. But I still enjoyed that joke on The Colbert Report. xD

29: When you make typos are they the normal "kik instead lol" ones or are they crazy "wtf that letter is all the way on the other side of the keyboard!" typos? My typos are predictable and boring. :( There was one I made once that amused me so much I left it in the post I was writing, but now I don't even remember what it was. It was a grammatical mistake, though, not so much a typo as my brain getting ahead of itself. xD

30: Are there people (like maybe parents) that you have to kinda hide how you really are from? I don't think I hide myself (I'm often surprised at how quickly people figure out my personality), but I tend to not talk about my interests or hobbies (for fear of being made fun of? You'd think I'd have grown out of this by now), to the point that I've known most of my co-workers for going on three years, and they're STILL trying to figure out what kind of music I listen to. >xD Oh, and my parents don't yet know about the classes I'm taking next month, just because I've been too embarrassed to tell them. :P RIDIC? PROBABLY.

31: Have you ever sat outside looking at the sky when it changes or when the stars are out? I've never properly watched a sunrise or sunset because, let's be honest, I don't have the attention span for it. But I do like looking at the night sky.

32: Go to thefuckingweather.com. What does it think of your weather? "ITS FUCKING ....ALRIGHT." What does this site have against apostrophes?

33: Who is it? Is it a friend of mine? Is it my brother? Choose one: I'm going to be a ~rebel~ and say ALL OF THE ABOVE. And also, adsgjkh;alkdh;ae I love this song!

34: Do you know how bored you have to be to decide you're gonna make a survey? I guess more bored than I've ever been, because I've never decided to make a survey! :D

Here in scenic southern Indiana, it's fucking cold (in my slightly more northerly town-of-origin, it is fucking cold and snowing). I didn't really need thefuckingweather.com to tell me that, since I've been knocking snow off my car for the past two days and holding my breath when I turn the key in the ignition. XD TFW also informs me that I can expect wang icicles. (As you know if you've seen A Christmas Story, these icicles have been known to kill people.)

I am incapable of acting normal, so people generally have who I am figured out pretty quickly. (Oddly, they usually remain well-disposed towards me.) I'm not particularly subtle. The pleasant part of this is that nobody is particularly surprised when they hear what I'm interested in.

I was so glad when Jon and Kate was cancelled. I actually feel really guilty for ever enjoying that show; no kid needs their childhood broadcast on international television.
