Yay, I got interviewed again!! :D This time the questions are from [livejournal.com profile] frauleinfrog.

1. Okay, so really. What's your favorite movie?
We watched a few movies in my tenth grade music composition class, most of which were interesting but not to the extent that I've ever felt the need to watch them again. One day, our teacher told us he was going to show us a movie about Mozart. I don't remember what I was expecting, but I know I wasn't expecting Amadeus to become my favourite movie ever. And once again I am feeling frustrated by my complete inability to describe exactly how much I love it. I don't know how many of you read Fandom Secrets, but this one from late last year? That was me. xD But it's not just the writing in this movie that amazes me, it's pretty much everything: the sets, the acting (both Tom Hulce and F. Murray Abraham were nominated for Best Actor), the characters, the weaving of fact and fiction, the music (obviously, haha). I also feel the need to mention that Wolfie and Stanzi, with all of their everyday problems, are pretty much my favourite fictional couple EVER, to the point where you can probably find a bit of them in almost every story I've written since seeing this movie.

Random: in high school, [livejournal.com profile] athena_crikey gave me a copy of the script of the original play that she found in a used bookstore in Quebec, and it sits on the top shelf of my bookcase along with my other most important and favourite books. xD Also random: one of the first actual conversations I had with [livejournal.com profile] the_wykydtron was about Amadeus, and for some reason we have been talking about that meeting a lot recently, hahaha!

Even more random: there is a German musical simply called Mozart! Das Musical that I bought the soundtrack to because that is exactly how much of a nerd I am. My favourite song from it is definitely Wie wird man seinen Schatten los, in which Mozart struggles with the pressures brought upon him by his musical talents. lol, the only reason I have any idea what this song is about is because I managed to find the Japanese version, and omg for a while I was so obsessed with it. In one of the Japanese productions of Mozart!, the role of Constanze was apparently played by J-pop singer Hiro, and OMG YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW COOL I THINK THAT IS. In high school I was so in love with Hiro's song "Confession."

IN CONCLUSION: fictional works based on the life of Mozart get a thumbs-up from me!! xD Although now I feel bad because I just realized how little I write about Amadeus. lol I should start rambling about it more, I bet you all would love that, right?? >xD

Edit: I forgot I was going to mention that, according to my work nametag, my favourite movie is Pirates of the Caribbean. This often prompts people to ask "Which one?," but I definitely mean all three of them together. Back when all we had was the first movie, as much as I loved it, I never felt right calling it one of my favourites. I eventually decided that this was because it did not pack the emotional punch I require of my favourite movies! Only when At World's End was released did I finally decide I could favourite the trilogy. xD Amadeus has so far never been on my nametag, because I suspect most guests would see it and ask the same question they always did when I had Aladdin on my nametag: "Is that your real and/or last name?" :P

2. And your favorite Disney movie? Are they the same? Why/why not?
My favourite Disney movie is Aladdin, no question. I rediscovered it in the sixth grade when I was rewatching all my Disney movies, and since then I have watched it so many times I can recite the whole script. I saw the DCA musical six times and the Al and Jas Storytime Adventures show three times during our one-week trip; I saw Aladdin, Jr. twice when a local theatre group performed it; in Tokyo Disney, the Aladdin characters were the only characters I actively sought out. I don't think I'll ever get sick of this movie.

Having said all that, I do feel that Aladdin has recently fallen from its spot at the top of my list of favourite movies because there are a few parts of the story that have begun to weird me out. Our protagonist is a young man who is attractive, intelligent, and in excellent shape -- and yet we're supposed to believe that he is unable to find work of any kind. He gets the lamp because he's the diamond in the rough -- not even "a diamond," but "the diamond," as if no one else in Agrabah fits this description. I mean, basically the story is about how he escapes poverty through luck instead of through hard work or any of his own motivation, and in the end that just ... weirds me out.

And now I wish I could think of a way to end this answer so that it wouldn't be so dangling and awkward, but oh well. xD

3. Who's your favorite out of all of your characters?
Out of all my characters? That award definitely goes to Sloan, of my non-NaNoWriMo novel project that I've been working on for years upon years. xD; Probably every writer has at least one character they wish they could be, and Sloan is mine. She says what she wants when she wants because she wants to! Nothing embarrasses her! She totally owns her emotions and is a great friend! hahaha I always hate summing up my own writing, but yes, I would definitely say that Sloan is my favourite of the characters I've created. :D

4. How do you study languages? Like, do you try to immerse yourself, or just study grammar point by grammar point?
To be honest, I am really grateful that tests like the JLPT exist, because if I don't have something specific to study for, I am pretty bad at keeping up a proper study routine. Before I decided to take the JLPT this year, I think my studying basically just consisted of looking up the words in the Japanese Trojan War adaptation I'm attempting to read. After I signed up for the test, I started going through grammar points and kanji lists, and now that we are getting down to the last couple weeks I am trying for as much immersion as I can manage by myself in an English-speaking area. (This is kinda what I did before I wrote the Spanish AP exam, too. Although at the time I only had like one Spanish CD, so whenever I wanted to listen to music it was ALL SHAKIRA ALL THE TIME!) So ... fingers crossed? D:

5. Have you ever dyed your hair?
I have put temporary pink streaks in it for one costume (Melody of Josie and the Pussycats -- lol, I don't think any of you know about that costume!) and temporary purple streaks in it for another (Hannah Montana!), but no, I've never dyed it, and at this point in time I have no desire to.

In other news, tomorrow I am going to This Is It for the second time in three days, and a Twilight t-shirt party for the second time in eight days. ahahaha, my life this week is so ridiculous but I love it. FANDOM ALL OVER THE PLACE!! xD Hopefully I can fit some studying in here somewhere. D:

It has been a while since you talked about Amadeus, because I had sort of forgotten it was an option. XD

Man, Aladdin is definitely one of the best! Pretty sure it defines our generation. Although, those are definitely very good points. Also, I was horrified when I discovered that there are songs that didn't make it to the final version, what the heck.

Man, I'm in Japan and I'm being a wimp about studying. It's a good thing that I am pretty much immersed, or else I think I'd be forgetting everything from Uni. ^^;; Because I am totally the same! If I don't have a goal that exists outside of myself, like a test or a race (since this applies to things like exercising), then I'm totes not gonna get motivated. >.>
