My first class today was cancelled and since that meant I didn't have to go in till 4:30, I of course had a spectacularly productive day planned. Unfortunately, my Year of a Million Dreams DVD came this morning, so. Haha, yes, you heard right, I now have two Disneyland planning DVDs from two consecutive years. But it is only because my parents love me so much! Haha. My mom ordered the 50th Anniversary one for me in secret, and my dad was in the process of ordering this latest one when I arrived home from school one day. XD

My feelings towards these DVDs are ridiculously mixed. They are basically the LAMEST narration even possible coupled with images of the parks that always end up looking a little bit unreal. My favourite parts of both DVDs are not even Disneyland-related, they're from the Walt Disney World promotional material. I believe I've already mentioned my favourite guy from the 50th DVD, the guy who begins every ride by yelling "HERE WE GOOOOOOO!!!!!" at the top of his lungs. XD XD XD XD It seems that WDW tries a greater variety of promotional methods than does Disneyland, maybe because it's bigger or because it's more an all-in-one vacation resort. But I like that they have these videos that follow one group of people around the resort as they do whatever they feel like. Even if the group of people is annoying as all get-out, I think it's still a more engaging way to promote your park, instead of being like "Here's a conveniently diverse bunch of families enjoying the Matterhorn a bit too much to be believable!" :P :P :P My favourite part of the YoaMD DVD is the "For Kids By Kids" part of the WDW section, where they take a group of (conveniently diverse) pre-teens and let them run around the park being the obnoxious pre-teens that they are. XD There are even some shots where you can tell not all of them are thrilled to be where they are, like when they're at the stunt show and the one girl is covering her ears and looking miserable. XD; But even if it shows her not enjoying that particular attraction, as a whole the "For Kids" part of the DVD got me a lot more excited about going to Disneyland than the sanitized pans across the park and the ri.di.cu.lous narration. x_x;;;

OH, and then they showed some clips of Fantasmic! which made me look like this: ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; because it's not going to be showing while we're there. And though there are plenty of videos of it on YouTube, I'm sure it's not quite the same. Sadness! ;_;

But then they showed a clip from DCA's Aladdin musical and I looked like this: XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD There are going to be two whole Aladdin shows going on while we're at the resort, which means I don't think I'll have any time leftover for rides, never even mind that one of the shows is intended for pre-schoolers!!!!!! XD XD XD XD XD XD

And then they showed the clip from Aladdin where the Sultan is shaking Prince Ali's hand only they took out the Sultan and replaced him with some live action guy, hahahahahaha, oh gosh it was too adorable. XD XD XD XD XD

I was going to say more about this DVD but I forget what it is so I will just leave you with the thought that today I wanted to watch a movie and I picked Fantasia 2000. I think that when you think "hmm, I'd like to watch a movie," and you reach for either of the Fantasias, that must be the point of no return, as far as being an insane Disney fan goes. XD XD XD XD;;; BUT I HADN'T SEEN IT IN FIVE YEARS and it is actually pretty good, come on now. You believe me, don't you? XD XD XD

(One of my embarrassing stories that I've never told anyone before now is that when I dragged my family to Vancouver to see Fantasia 2000 in the IMAX, I almost shouted "NO!" at the part where the firebird is chasing the forest sprite and she's running up that cliff thing. :x Hahaha, that's so weird, I've never before or since felt like I was about to scream in the middle of a movie, hahaha ... weird. ^^; )

I love this icon of Aurora making a heart with her hands. In the same batch there is one of her giving the peace sign and winking!! Oh Aurora, I always knew you were a J-pop idol at heart. XD Now I want to go to Disneyland and ask all the characters to do J-pop poses for my pictures, hahaha. You're embarrassed, just think how [livejournal.com profile] the_wykydtron will feel! XD XD XD;;;
