Let's start this post off with the dorkiest thing ever. For the past two months or so, I have had an analogue clock in my room, and this is a really new thing for me because I have never had one before and it is loud! It's a Disney Princess clock featuring Cinderella that my dad brought me back from Germany. XD; (Hahahaha, I am the easiest person to shop for ever. XD ) Anyway, today I watched a couple Escaflowne episodes in my room using my new hardcore region-free portable DVD player. And at the end of episode twenty-three, when Hitomi is back on Earth and the clock is ticking? It was ticking exactly the opposite of my Cinderella clock. Tick! from Escaflowne, then tick! from Cinderella. Is it ridiculous how hilarious I think this is? XD XD I was like, "I should watch it again!" but I did not have any faith in my ability to reproduce the effect. XD XD XD XD

And now for a dream post, because you love dream posts, I know you do. XD Last night I had a dream that my mother told me that my brother and his girlfriend were going to have a baby, and then like the next day the baby was born. XD And it was a girl! And my brother came to visit us and he was walking up the driveway carrying the baby and I ran up to him and asked if I could hold her and he said, "NO!" And he absolutely would not allow me to baby-sit her. Oooooooh man, if that happens in real life I will be CRUSHED. I am depending on my brother to produce adorable offspring so that I may be their doting aunt. XD

And I also had a dream that I was sitting in the movie theatre watching PotC3 for the first time, and I was so completely enjoying it (all I can remember of it now though is that Will was on a red ship? talking tensely with an enemy? haha or something?), except then I thought to myself, "What am I doing watching this for the first time in the afternoon? I TOTALLY MISSED MY CHANCE TO SEE THIS MOVIE AT MIDNIGHT" and I totally hated myself. And so of course I woke up and now cannot believe I still have to wait until May to see PotC3. ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_;

Writing that paragraph reminded me of the dream I had a couple nights ago where [livejournal.com profile] the_wykydtron and my plane tickets to Anaheim were for a Friday morning, but I believed they were for Friday evening, and so I went to school as usual, and then I realized that we had missed our flight, and it was the worst thing ever. Really funny when I woke up, though. Except I shouldn't have told my mom I dreamt that, now she's all worried all over again. ^^;;;

One last thing! I am continuing in my quest to label all my unlabelled tapes, and I came onto the computer to inform [livejournal.com profile] the_wykydtron of the Jungle Cruise joke that they snuck into the Aladdin episode "Rain of Terror" (says Genie, "And now for the most dangerous part of our journey: the drive home" lawl), and I decided to check the MoMusu forums while I was here, and zomg their upcoming single has finally been on the radio and it is excellent. XD Mostly I am just so thrilled that it's not another "Aruiteru," because I kind of think that's my least favourite MoMusu single ever. But I love it! It is nice and funky in an old school MoMusu sort of way, and of course it has a ridiculous title, so I'm happy. XD (Although personally I think Reina should have more lines, hahahaha well fine. XD ) I really want to pre-order this but all my money is going towards Vancouver next weekend and Disneyland in February ... so I shall have to pre-order it with something that doesn't come out until, like, April, so it'll be charged when I have a job again. XD;;; Hahaha, I wonder if this is a good plan or a terrible plan. XD;;; Man, though, this is awesome, and what's even better is that I like it twenty times more every time I listen to it. <3333333 XD XD XD And a new album soon, too! Man, I can't believe it's been almost a year since Rainbow 7 was released ... I still feel like I only just got it! XD;; That might be the CD I take with me to Anaheim. Really I'm only taking my CD player to help me get through the flights with minimum airsickness. So far I've only used Rainbow 7 and Maki Goto's best album for this purpose, but for whatever reason I found Rainbow 7 worked so much better. I guess just because I knew it better so it was easier to focus on it? Or something? I don't know how it worked, I just know that it did. :P

Hahahahaha, your comment is like the exact reaction that I had after seeing the movie for the first time. XD Except that I really like Will in this movie, and it seems that you thought him kind of pathetic? ^^;;

So what do you think will happen next??? How will Jack come back?? I keep asking people for their predictions and no one will give me any!! hahaha.

that dude at the end! i thought he was dead!

Because he so totally was, hahahahahahaha!!! But isn't that the best ending ever?? Well at first I absolutely HATED it but now I have come to love it. Because it is the best ending ever. XD XD XD XD

and norrington!!!!! >:((((

Elaborate, elaborate!! What about Norrington?? XD XD I really like him in this movie, too. I can see why one might be all OMG NORRINGTON YOU TRAITOR but oh man, he is just too fun to watch.

I probably have mentioned it before in this very same LJ, but when I first saw PotC2 I was so confused and I hated it so much, but now that I have seen it a crazy number of times I think it is amazing. <3 Except for the sequence where Jack is with the cannibals. That is long and totally unnecessary and I don't really find it all that funny, although I guess a lot of people do. :/

And what did you think of Tia Dalma?? Or Elizabeth? Or Davy Jones? At first I was indifferent to Davy Jones but now I think he is AWESOME. And what did you think of Bootstrap? Hahaha, you don't have to answer ALL these questions, I just love to talk about PotC. XD

i thought will was SUPER pathetic. but um. that made me like him even more? :D i get all distasty at super buff hero men. it's the dorks that are the best, totally.

i think jack will come back because octopus dude thinks jack made off with his heart, therefore jack will be thrown back out covered in octopus slime and subjected to interrogation.

i can't remember what happened in POTC1 which made me confused as to the ending, but i thought it was a really great ending in the sense that i want to watch POTC3. except like, NOW.

i think norrington looks exceptionally dishy, and i understand why he did what he did. i was also very :DDD!!! at his brilliance at totally tricking sparrow&co. although man, the evil guy who wants the compass is just so evil.

wow, i just really loved the whole movie tho i've only seen it once, even the cannibal sequence, to be honest, because what would the movie be without the attempt to escape from that round cage of bones? THAT WAS SO MUCH HILARITY I SWEAR.

i think davy jones is really gross. :( i'm allergic to octopus. and i could really imagine that smell. so for someone who thinks hygiene is important, his character didn't cut it for me. elizabeth is (y) but i go all -_- when she and will get lovey, although it's rather funny. i loved that three-way sword fight on the deserted island.

tia dalma is the magician lady? she's all right, i guess. i haven't a clue who bootstrap is :O is that will's father? because that WHOLE WILL'S FATHER STORYLINE MADE ME SO SAD. i really hope they slay davy jones's heart and free will's dad, because lakjdflahdsf *SAD*

loyalty is no longer the currency of the realm

Did you like Will better in the first movie? I think in that movie he's a bit less heroic. Or he tries to be heroic but isn't as successful. I find him more appealing in the second movie because he's grown into the heroic role a bit more as opposed to forcing it onto himself. I think it's a nice evolution. But I think I prefer heroic protagonists to dorky protagonists, so perhaps we simply disagree there. ;)

You're right about Davy Jones thinking that Jack has his heart ... I feel like I've never even thought about that before! If Davy Jones has the power to make the kraken regurgitate (??) people that it's eaten ... that's an interesting idea and one I totally hadn't thought of, hahaha. But I think I would prefer something a bit more supernatural, so that Tia Dalma has the chance to do something awesome, hahaha! And we still need an explanation for Barbossa coming back at the end of PotC2, and I don't know how you would explain that without magic or something of some sort ... hmm.

a really great ending in the sense that i want to watch POTC3. except like, NOW.

ME TOO!!!

I like the escape from the bone cage. Not fantastically, but I like it better than Jack's portion of the cannibal island sequence. But at the same time I find that to be a problem, just because Will's part of a scene should never be more interesting than Jack's. Y'know? Jack is supposed to be the awesome one. His Wile E. Coyote antics just don't do it for me. :p

Ahahaha, Elizabeth and Will didn't get THAT lovey in this movie! There's no time to be all gushy when you're being chased by PIRATES!!!! XD XD XD

i loved that three-way sword fight on the deserted island.

I think a lot of people really do. XD It had to grow on me a bit but I like it a lot now. Even if it's a little gimmicky. ^^;;

Yeah, Tia Dalma is the mysterious lady and Bootstrap is Will's dad. XD I don't think I had even before considered the possibility that Bootstrap won't be freed at the end. If you accept it as a given that Davy Jones is defeated, then I think it follows that Bootstrap will be freed ... unless he has a heroic self-sacrifice scene or something like that. Hahahaha!!! XD

i....can't remember the first movie. XD much, anyway. and yes, i really love dorky characters in the movies. i think we have the more heroic guy in norrington (though he's amorally heroic, if that's not an invalid pairing of words), so the loser is totally necessary.

since i think davy jones is totally yyy and in control of the kraken, he'll spit jack back up in order to get his heart back; it doesn't make sense any other way, right, because when he opened the trunk and it was empty he was all >:||| JACK. SPARROW.i'm hoping this will happen ebcause it seems like the most realistic course of action, whereas i think tia dalma can influence the eventual outcome of what really happens (ie. how the heart gets poked and bootstrap freed)

how was barbossa killed in potc1? :0 i forget.

jack's portion of the sequence bored me, but it was worth it just for the escape from the bone cage. i thought the idea of the pendulum was so unpredictable and totally fabulous. i literally cried with laughter.(and will deserves some awesomeness sometimes, since he's such a loser the rest of the time xD)

the lovey scenes made me -_-, though, because i hate how elizabeth isn't all manly and "hi, i can function with will, my third limb."

anyway, i was considering the possibility that davy jones came to his senses and became nice, because of that lady he really loved and such, but bootstrap isn't reunited with will but continues his scrounging out at sea. there is something really wrong with the tenses in that sentence. anyway, yes! because i want bootstrap to be at will and elizabeth's wedding. T_T

Bargain!

Sarah! You don't like the cannibal sequence?!?!? ohemgee! As far as the plot is concerned, it *is* kind of a useless tangent so that Will and Jack can have an exciting reunion, but is it not full of a giddy exhuberance? Is it not full of beautifully comic sequences? I enjoy the cannibal sequence more than the Davy Jones revenge middle section of the movie, but the Isla Cruces scenes are still the best.

I'm surprised how much I have come to enjoy the final scene of the movie, because I HATE HATE HATED it when we saw it in theatres. STUPID TWIST ENDINGS ARGH ARGH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE ARGH!

Heroic!Will works far better in PotC2 than in the first movie - first movie he's a bumbling noob, but here I think he's in his element. "I could do this all day!" Hah hah hah.

I can see why one might be all OMG NORRINGTON YOU TRAITOR but oh man, he is just too fun to watch.

I am so glad that you love Norrington in this movie! (I think I've said this before.) I think he's more sympathetic in the first one, but man he's just so hilarious in PotC2. If you didn't love him, I don't know what I'd do. I'm just worried that he'll become a secondary, sideline villain in PotC3 because Cutler Beckett is too cool. Especially because Norrington seems to be in an almost subordinate position at the end - he's depending on Beckett to recall him to life.

Don't wait for me.

I hope you just heard the sound of my heart breaking. I had somehow gotten under the impression that we were in complete agreement regarding the cannibal island sequence. Ted and Terry's audio commentary redeemed the sequence only a wee little bit when they talked about how they put it in so that there'd be a part where Jack realizes that he's in just as much danger on land as on water, and yeah, you do need a scene where Will finds Jack, of course, but at the same time I don't think either of those reasons call for such a long sequence full of such ridiculous slapstick. I want to watch Jack, not Wile E. Coyote! And the fact that Will's part of that sequence is a lot more interesting, that just makes me mad. As much as I have come to like the boy, Will should never be more interesting than Jack! Will is the archetype! Jack is the interesting one! Falling comically off cliffs is not interesting, it is Saturday morning cartoon!!

Since the DVD came out I have watched the movie probably at least ten times, but I've only watched the cannibal island sequences only twice. Yeah, maybe it's full of "giddy exhuberance," but I am not looking for giddy exhuberance in my PotC. The only parts of cannibal island I like are the ones that are more LOOK OLD SCHOOL ADVENTURE MOVIE than HAHAHA WE ARE SWINGING WHILE CLASSICAL MUSIC PLAYS IN THE BACKGROUND, ISN'T IT JOLLY???

Basically I would rather have another "curiosity" discussion than the cannibal island sequence. But I am the only person I have found who disliked it so strongly. ALTHOUGH I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS SO.

Davy Jones revenge middle section of the movie, but the Isla Cruces scenes are still the best

I think both of those parts PWN the cannibal island sequence. PWNAGE IS COMPLETE.

"I could do this all day!"

I love that line, hahahaha! Apparently Orlando improvised it, too. Hahaha, awesome.

Norrington in PotC2 ... I think I resisted liking him a bit at first, but come on now. He is just so awesome. Like he is a culmination of other awesome traits from other awesome characters from various things and all together they make awesome!Norrington. That was a really vague sentence even though I feel like I like him in a sharply defined sort of way. (I have no idea what I am typing.)

I'm not really concerned about his role diminishing, because though you once pointed out that he doesn't actually do all that much in PotC2, I definitely think he has a much bigger prescence than in PotC, and I dunno. It just doesn't make sense to me, diminishing his role. I feel like he either has to have the same sized part or his role has to get bigger. Cutler Beckett is definitely cool but I don't think there's a TON that you can do with him because, as we've seen him so far at least, he's not the most interesting character. Like Allen in the Escaflowne movie - definitely he's one of the most awesome characters in the movie. But if he had any more screentime, what would you do with him? He has no personality. He's got nowhere to go. Does Cutler Beckett have somewhere to go? I kind of can't see it happening.

Especially because Norrington seems to be in an almost subordinate position at the end - he's depending on Beckett to recall him to life.

But subordinate position doesn't equal minor character. I still say it would be absolutely bizarre to reduce Norrington's role, when the audience has been with him for two movies now and when he's more firmly established than Beckett. But I dunno. I think I have a lot more faith in the filmmakers than you do, at any rate. XD

(Despite my hatred for cannibal island.)
