So, as befits the season, this month CBC is showing a variety of Christmas movies, from classics like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Scrooge to newer releases like Elf and The Santa Clause. So what are they saving for their evening movie of Christmas day? Why, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, of course! Because what says "Christmas" more than undead pirates sailing the high seas? NOTHING!! XD XD XD XD
I have finished watching all the extras on the PotC2 DVD, including the Easter eggs. Sadness! :( And basically I could talk about PotC2 for entry upon entry but I'll try not to right now. I was surprised that they included so much PotC3 in the extras, even though I knew they were filming both movies together. I feel like I should be able to figure out important plot points from the clips, but alas, the most I could figure is that Elizabeth wears a green shirt, Will wears a red shirt, Jack talks to Barbossa (who was half-hidden behind a camera in that shot - I wonder if they did that on purpose? as if they thought they weren't spoiling us that way?), and they are on a ship. Excellent skills of deduction! I was also surprised that there was no separate deleted scenes, even though like half of the extras showed the process of filming scenes that were deleted. :p I was really surprised to find that Davy Jones and his crew, with the exception of Bootstrap, weren't even wearing costumes! I had always thought it was just their faces and whatever obvious fishy parts that had been done on the computer, but apparently I was wrong! To me the fact that their clothes were all done on the computer is more impressive than the fact that their monster bits were. Because everyone knows Davy Jones' tentacles are fake, so everyone's going to give them some leeway. But the fact that his clothes were fake, man, I never would've guessed.
I like Davy Jones more each time I like the movie. The first time I was rather indifferent to him. I think I tend to be indifferent to antagonists? But I've come to really like the way he changes his voice, and all his funky facial expressions, and how he's really terrible when it comes to hiding his emotions. XD I think he's kind of the opposite of Barbossa, in that way.
Ugh, I don't like that LiveJournal has me typing in Arial now ... I miss my cheap little Courier New ... :(
In other ridiculous news, the alternate version of Aya Matsuura's "Zutto Suki de Ii Desu Ka" is one of my favourite H!P PVs, and the making of has been uploaded to YouTube. :) The PV is one of those where the camera moves around to find the singer standing in different parts of the room, even though you never see her move from one spot to another. And I had always wondered how they had made this PV. Running around the room is the obvious answer, but come on, Ayaya is much too composed to do something like that! Right? Ahaha, apparently not! XD I think she was kind of embarrassed that all her fans would get to see this footage of her scurrying around the set in her elegant gown, hahaha, but I find it quite amusing. XD; And I do think the PV was worth the effort, at least.

Christmas Presents
Date: 2006-12-17 03:26 am (UTC)I wonder who would win fisticuffs between Davy Jones and Barbossa, if we leave out the Kraken ... I like Barbossa better, I think, although I enjoy both Bill Nighy and Geoffrey Rush.
I dislike typing Davy Jones's name, because it's two names, and you'd think you'd be able to shorten it to one. Jack Sparrow --> Jack, Will Turner --> Will, but "Davy" or "Jones" on their own don't sound right.
A QUESTION REVEALING MY TOTAL IGNORANCE: What's a PV?
Christmas presence (eh? see what I did there?)
Date: 2006-12-19 10:01 am (UTC)I don't know how people can wait until Christmas to get their PotC fill. My brother's girlfriend knows she's being given PotC2 for Christmas, but she couldn't wait, she had to come over and watch my copy. :P Hahahaha!
Barbossa has guns and swords but Davy Jones has TENTACLES OF DEATH!! I don't know who would win fisticuffs because we've yet to see Davy Jones fight for himself. Maybe he's really a COWARD!!!
I dislike typing Davy Jones's name because I've seen some people spell it "Davey" and that makes me confused. :(
Now for something completely different, PV = "promotion video" which is what a music video is called in Japanese. XD They have no delusions that videos are made to sell the music! hahahaha. I like "PV" much better than "music video," it's much quicker to type. :)
(And "CM" is "commercial," even when speaking! Which I think is cute.)
