I am watching the French dub of 2003's Helen of Troy on TVA. I never did finish watching the original version. I am taping this version on the same tape as the original, hehe it amuses me. It's at the part where I came in last time. I still haven't seen the very beginning, and I still can't believe they made Achilles bald. Also, the first fight at Troy is still as bizarre as it was the first time I saw it. I can see what they are getting at, but it is still very strangely done. I like how the music is so similar to Troy's, and I actually say that in honesty. It is kind of funny because I bought my third copy of Troy today and so my mother believes that is what I'm watching. If she had ever seen Troy, she would know it doesn't let more than a minute pass without Brad Pitt onscreen. But I think I have seen Troy more times than any sane person should, so who am I to judge.

I love the part where they're talking about perhaps sending Helen back and Helen's like "Je le connais" and Priam's like "Menelaus ?" and Helen's like "L'autre" and then there's a shot of Agamemnon just standing there for like five minutes. Is it artistic? Is it ... modern?*

I was going to go get ready for tomorrow but now I am too afraid of my tape running out to leave the room. I'm dumb, is basically what this all comes down to.

Last night at the barbeque we watched a movie called Cry-Baby. It was so weird but I keep thinking about it! My favourite parts were the bunny hop to Allison's house (man, that part is awesome, I love how it's not at all explained, it just happens, like a NaNoWriMo dare, yet it fits perfectly within the movie) and the "Please, Mr. Jailer" song.

... But seriously now, whose decision was it to make Achilles bald? And Menelaus is so young! And Cassandra is so old! And Odysseus and Agamemnon, far as I can tell, are played by the same dude. I like how "Ithaca" is "l'Itaque." Well, I don't know if that's how it's spelled, but it sounds awesome.

Cassandra is having a vision that's giving me a headache. "Paris va mourir !" I wonder if we have seen Hector yet and I just didn't recognize him. All the guys in this movie look the same! ;_;_;_;

When Troy came out I thought it would be hilarious to have a "Paris dies!" icon like those fake "Legolas dies!" icons, except then the movie came out and Paris didn't die, which I know is the joke with Legolas, but anyway I didn't do it.

The VCR must be set on the lowest quality, because I took the tape out during the commercial break to check how far along it was and apparently it has moved approximately one frame per minute. Jolly good show!

Paris and Menelaus! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! I really do like that line in Troy, that "Is this what you left me for?" line.

Anyway, much as I am enjoying this movie (for serious, I am, it is the best thing that has happened to me all day), probably I should go and pretend to do something productive. ;_;

* Obligatory Amadeus reference.
