Zaibach has a better dental plan!

As has been mentioned by both [livejournal.com profile] the_wykydtron and [livejournal.com profile] athena_crikey, we and betaraider and betaraider's brother stayed up all night Friday night watching all of Escaflowne. :D Or [livejournal.com profile] the_wykydtron and I stayed up all night, at least. XD I'm not in much of an analytical mood right now so I won't subject you to my fake brand of analysis, but just know that staying up all night to watch Escaflowne (and take a quick walk through the cemetery! <3 ) is buckets full of awesomeness. I thought the whole night was one big stretch of awesomeness so I do hope my friends feel the same way, even the ones who fell asleep and started kicking me. Ahaha, man, every time we do an all-nighter like this it just increases my desire to do it again. I suspect, though, that I might be alone in that. XD (Now that I've done Esca in one night three times, I think it's time to move up to the big leagues. FMA in one night? Who's with me? Ahahaha, I think that would end up being a night and a day, ahahaha, oh gosh.)

Taking pity on those who don't actually care about my ingenie-us sleeping patterns. )

PS: This song rocks my socks.

さっきだなんて過去のこと きっと忘れちゃうから

So on Saturday night I went on a Ghostly Walk with one of my friends, where we were led around the supposedly haunted parts of downtown Victoria. >:D The Empress, the Christmas store, Rogers' Chocolates, Bastian Square - apparently they are all haunted! It was really interesting. One of the two tour guides has actually worked on one of my favourite cheap-o shows, Creepy Canada, which is awsm! XD! I must admit, though, that I couldn't help being a little disappointed ... the stories were really good and everything but we didn't see any ghosts. :(

We had parked in a parking garage and on our way back, there was a group of four guys standing outside the door of the garage, drinking beer. Lo and behold, two of those guys were former classmates of mine. =_=;; CLASSY! One of them told me he got a B- in our Japanese lit. class without even handing in his second essay. This makes me feel really bad being all "I got an A in English 12 and I never even read Jane Eyre!" because I would like to think I'm better than this guy. :/ On the last day of class he was begging for someone to describe the ending of Tale of Genji to him. I was like, dude, I slagged through that entire thousand-page novel, no way I'm telling anyone how it ends! You can see I can be very stuck-up when I want to be.

After that I came home and looked to see if my mark was up but it wasn't!! Weird?? It didn't appear until this evening. But I got an A+ in Japanese lit. and that's my first mark of the semester so here's hoping that bodes well. :D :D :D Well, I do like to think I deserve that A+ because I did feel like I had Genji on the brain the entire semester. Speaking of! Our boys Allen Schezar and Hikaru Genji. )

Ahahaha, would you rather I posted about Escaflowne or about PotC2? I was actually going to write a post about PotC but then got embarrassed and wrote this one instead. Haha, I'll wait till I get un-embarrassed and then I'll try again. XD;; I am trying to censor myself less in my LJ but it's haaaaaard. :/

Within the first three days of owning the PotC2 DVD, I watched the movie three times and my brother and his girlfriend watched it once. They watched it while I was out ghost walking, otherwise I would've watched it with them. XD A couple weeks ago - I think when I was watching PoA for the second time in two days - my mother was commenting on my habit of watching movies over and over and over and over and over again, and I replied that at least I know that when I buy a DVD, it's never a waste of money, as it's guaranteed to pay for itself within the first few days. XD Man, it's so weird. Am I weird? Because it's like, yeah, I watch tons of movies. It's just that they're all the same ones ... XD XD XD XD

Reality not a problem for the Riders of Ramond.

So earlier this year I watched Escaflowne after not watching it for three years, and as I watched I typed out a bunch of observations I had because that is how much of a total dork I am. But anyway, I was reading over these observations earlier today after not touching them since May, and, as I usually do when I reread my writing, I was totally cracking up. Oh my goodness, past!Sarah is so hilarious, she should go into stand-up, or, like, something.

Watch out for spoilers! The dragon still lacks the courage to cross the line. )

Hahaha, don't you guys love how I use my LJ to write about, like, my LIFE? Ahahaha. Yes, excellent. I spent the last two hours watching Full House, because I am going through my VHS tapes and labelling them all good and proper. (I can't believe I taped over the Papouli episode, that's like my favourite one. ;_; ) And I was thinking: in recent years, Bob Saget has told the dirtiest joke in The Aristocrats, Mary-Kate Olsen has been brunette/bulimic/on drugs, and now John Stamos is playing the part of a gay wedding planner*. Does anyone else think now is the perfect time for a Full House reunion? I HOPE I'M NOT ALONE IN THIS!!!

* Well, obviously the fact that he is playing the part of a gay wedding planner does not bug me. I am only bugged by how I keep catching him on talk shows making dirty puns. Each time I am like, "Nooooo~, Uncle Jesse~~~!!!!," and the heart of five-year-old Sarah breaks just a little bit more.

It's been a while since I've written a truly long and disconnected and embarrassing entry, so let's go! Please don't feel any sort of obligation to read the whole thing. XD

3. Ukifune. )

4. NaNoWriMo!!! )

special generation love

My Reading Break is not the Reading Break I would have preferred, although it is indeed the Reading Break I could have predicted. In light of this, I have decided to revise my to-do list. Allow me to present to you ...

¡Sarah's New & Improved Reading Break 2006 To-Do List!
· sleep until 2pm whenever possible - CHECK!
· get caught up with Animal Crossing - CHECK!
· spend hours upon hours watching my brother play Spider-man 2 - CHECK!
· get hooked on Katamari Damacy - CHECK!
· watch six billion trillion hours of Escaflowne - CHECK!
· eat a full bag of popcorn every day - CHECK!
· candy candy candy - CHECK!

Man, would ya look at that. According to my new and revised to-do list, I am spending this Reading Break being insanely productive.

TABLEAU!

work work work )

Also, I wonder if I will ever ever find myself sick of "Special Generation," because I know I get a little bit obsessive about songs sometimes, but I don't remember the last time I was so obsessed with a song for like three months, man oh man. (Although I have yet to see a live performance of this song that doesn't suck.)

omg, there isn't a single mention of "Reba" in this post

Escaflowne and GALS! )

And so you don't think I spend all my time watching TV, which I do: today I spent an hour cleaning my room. Not a huge amount of progress, but it's more than I've done in a while, so I say good job!

Also, I rode the bus with someone from my high school who I only used to see sporadically but whom I now see all the time. And it is really awesome to talk to her! My bus ride doesn't feel like twenty minutes when I have someone with whom I can pretend I am all knowledgeable about everything! XD XD XD;;;;;

Also, I think today I produced the least mangled Spanish I have produced since the beginning of the semester, which is nice. Today marks a whole month without any skipped classes or missed shifts! I guess it is kind of pathetic that that feels like an accomplishment now. But compared to last semester ... ~_~;

This entry is an hour of my life that I'll never get back!

I was going to use my Ayumi "Ourselves" icon for this entry because I have yet to use it, but it is so DEPRESSING. I like this violent one much better.

A bunch of our relatives and family friends have taken up the habit of writing family newsletters, and I love these things to pieces because they are adorable, but at the same time they are painful reminders of why I would rather talk to these people. Basically, I have yet to see a newsletter that appears to have been written by someone who knows how to write. And I try to be fair, I know not everyone likes writing or loves grammar or anything like that, but I don't know, it still pains me. The latest one we received featured a picture of the oldest son in his role as Billy from their school production of Chicago - said the caption, "He was very, very good." Just ... honestly, I'm sure you could have thought of something more powerful to say than that.

Not to say that I'm any better. I mean, I could pretend I'm a better writer than that, but you guys have all seen my LiveJournal, let's get real here ...

Work. ) * School. ) * Escaflowne! Also, how I am so old. ) * Footnotes. )

(no subject)

So on Saturday night a couple of my friends and I had a sleepover. D and I stayed up until five o'clock in the morning playing Mankala, watching Escaflowne, and speaking in fake Alabama accents. It was so fun. XD I started laughing till I cried when we discovered our raisins were all stuck to the bottom of the box. Isn't it weird what you'll laugh at at five in the morning? XDXD There were also some very amusing comments made about the male characters of Escaflowne, but if I mention what they were, D will probably get her revenge by not bringing me a souvenir from her trip to Japan. And I would not like that at all! ^^;

Once we had gotten a good three hours of sleep, we finished the series and decided that Van has exactly the right attitude for a rap star, and he can start his career with the line "mah kid Chid." XDXDXDXDXD

<3333 to everyone, for I am in a stupendous mood. :D

French TV

I just watched an hour of French television. I love living in Canada, because it means we get about four French channels. Yes, that makes me happy. ^__^

So I watched Quack Pack (I think that's what it's called :P ) and, since it's aimed at a younger age group, I suppose, I understood more of it than I certainly thought I would. Yay! ^_^

Then I watched Microsoap. It seems they have to talk faster to keep up with the English actors' mouths, which is annoying when you're still trying to learn the language, but then, I'd all ready seen that ep. before in a language I can understand. :Þ

I also had my first class of French today. Yay! ^_^ It seems like it'll be fun. I like the teacher, the class isn't rowdy, and I understand more French than I sometimes think. That makes me so happy. I would love to be fluently bilingual. ^___^ (Unfortunately, my pronounciation is not so hot . . . -_-;; )

I know this is slightly off-topic and all, but I like that part in ep. 23 (24? I dunno. I give up) of Escaflowne where Merle's talking to Van . . . I love the expression on her face when she yells out, "That's a lie!" Awww, poor Merle. It's nice that she accepted that Van wasn't in love with her romantically, though I don't think that's going to stop her from glomping him. ^_~;

Music makes the world go round. Lalala . . .

I'd just like to say that I cannot bring myself to like a series/movie/whatever if I hate the music. And I'd also like to say that I like the music (well . . . at least the songs) of Simba's Pride better than The Lion King, and that one of the reasons I kept watching Escaflowne was because Dance of Curse and Epistle reminded me of some of the Hunchback scores (which I LOVE). ^_~

Speaking of which, I got a little Bossu de Notre-Dame comic book/workbook out of the library today. Oui, il est en Français. Haaaa . . . that must've been such bad grammar (not to mention I don't know whether or not it should've been masculine or feminine ^^;;;). Starting Tuesday, though, I get French class. Thank the heavens, for I need it badly. E-heh.
