"They're after me! They're after you?"

I am reading my Japanese Aladdin book and though I don't understand as much as I'd like to, it's still pretty good going. I mean, this book was written for elementary school students and the like, so it's not that far above my Japanese reading level . . . ^^;;

Anyway! As I have seen this movie approximately 238562000 times, it is extremely easy for me to figure out the dialogue because the English lines play in my head anyway. I can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing. So anyway!! In the movie there are a few lines that are said by both Aladdin and Jasmine at the same time, and I am amused by the way they were translated. Yesh! XD

(I unfortunately don't know how close this book's dialogue is to the dialogue in the Japanese dub of the movie. Some novelizations seem to stick closer than others. So I will have to wait to find that out, but never mind, whatever.)

Original: "They're after me! They're after you?"
Japanese (Al): 連中は、ぼくを追ってるんだ！きみを追ってるって？ ("Renchuu wa, boku o otteru nda! Kimi o otteru tte?")
Japanese (Jas): あの人たち、わたしを追ってるのよ！あなたを追ってるですって？ ("Ano hitotachi, watashi o otteru no yo! Anata o otteru desu tte?")
Rough Translation: "They're chasing me! They're chasing you?"

Here I said "Hahaha." It seems that in Japanese, the differences between the speech of a princess and the speech of a street rat would be a lot more pronounced than they are in English. And they're supposed to say these lines at the same time? I definitely wonder about this one. XDXD

I also find it so amusing that they made a point of never mentioning Jasmine's age in the film, and yet in all the books and such that were released, her age is written all over the place. Am I easily amused or what? XDXD


Also, today someone called me "cute." This makes twice in the past few months. I think this is very interesting. K says it's because I'm "so energetic." Hmm? ^_^;
