In the middle of a lolarious conversation about a certain manager who likes to move everyone around to different tills for reasons no one else understands--

Co-worker 1: "And so by the end I was looking around and all I could think was, 'This is not where I belong!'"
Co-worker 2: "'Not where you belong'? You sound like a Disney movie."

Ahaha. x) I continue to adore my co-workers despite the fact that I seriously need a new job. On Wednesday we Slytherins got our prize of mini-golf and dinner. The mini-golf was really not exciting but the free dinner was so worth it. I definitely ordered more expensive things than I would've if I'd had to pay for it. >xD And now we're about a week away from paintball! I'M ACTUALLY GOING THIS TIME, unlike last time when I decided sleeping in was the preferable option. I've already made a financial commitment to this round, so. xD;

Anyway, I guess it's time for me to answer the questions from this post! (Which you are still allowed to contribute to, if you'd like!)

[livejournal.com profile] aurora_lime's question:
What TV shows do you watch, that are still currently on the air? How about ones that are not? Do you ever watch them online?

I think I sometimes give the impression of someone who has a number of TV shows they regularly watch, but I definitely don't. The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are the only shows I actually make the effort to watch every night, and even those I sometimes skip out on. When I was younger I used to have a bunch of shows that I would watch RELIGIOUSLY but that habit has definitely faded.

If I'm home around ten o'clock, I like to watch the rerun of Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, because I will never get enough of these wacky middle school sitcoms.

I don't really watch TV shows online. I've watched a bunch of clips from Whose Line is it Anyway? (which I did use to watch every week) online, I've watched one or two episodes of The Office online, everything I've seen of Kodomo no Omocha I've seen online, and once I rewatched all of Escaflowne on YouTube because I was too lazy to dig out my tapes ... but that's about it I think? haha I am behind the times.

OH WAIT I LIE I also sometimes watch Top Gear online.

[livejournal.com profile] athena_crikey's question:
What happened to that Troy fic?

aha, after a bit of confusion in which I believed Athena to be talking about a different unfinished Trojan War fic of mine, it has been made clear to me that she was referring to a humourous retelling of the story that I occasionally worked on in late high school. I actually got some pretty good feedback on that thing at the time, including from strangers!! But having just dug it up and reread part of it, it just made me feel really embarrassed. So ... there's your answer? ^^;

I mean, I still do really enjoy attempts (mine as well as other people's) to turn the Trojan War into a comedy, so maybe one day I'll return to writing something like that. But at the moment it is not on my to-do list, sorry to disappoint. :(

[livejournal.com profile] lifty's top five request:
Top five Disneyland attractions?!

Ahaha, this is one of those questions where no matter what I write for my answer, I am sure to regret at least part of it later!! xD; So here goes, hoping I'm not forgetting something obvious or ranking these in ways I will totally hate myself for later ... Also I am being a jerk and reading "Disneyland" as "Disney park" just so I can include some Tokyo Disney goodness. :D

Number five: Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean! I've been on this ride sooooo many times but my love for it is a quieter sort of love than my love for the other attractions on this list, so unfortunately it places last. There probably isn't anything I can say about this ride that I haven't already said, but yeah. I heart it. :)

(My dad wanted to know why Pirates is in Tokyo Disneyland instead of Tokyo DisneySea. I guess that's just the sort of mistheming that's bound to happen when you build a second park twenty years after the first.)

Number four: Disneyland's world famous Jungle Cruise! Again, I think I've already spilled fangirl on you guys enough times when it comes to this ride. I love it and its unashamed ridiculousness. <3 (Life goal #4,142: to one day have learned enough Japanese to be able to understand the skipper on the Tokyo version of this ride. Because this time, yeah ... I really didn't. :( )

Number three: Tokyo DisneySea's Sindbad's Storybook Voyage! I never had to wait in line for this and the cast members seemed really surprised when they saw me getting off the ride only to get right back on (haha, I actually had many stilted conversations with the cast members here!), which indicates to me that no one else has such an intense love for poor Sindbad as I. And I don't even know if I can explain why I love this ride so much. Basically the title tells you what to expect; your boat passes through scenes of such brightly coloured and fluid animatronics that it's definitely easy to feel you're passing through a storybook. Alan Menken wrote the song "Compass of Your Heart" for the characters to sing -- it's a little bizarre that Sindbad apparently stops right in the middle of defeating his enemies to burst into song, but at the same time it fits perfectly. And the whole ride is tied together so well and ... I dunno. I can't explain why I love this ride so much. I just do. <3 <3 <3 <3

I also chose this for my last ride in DisneySea, which I think works perfectly because it ends with Sindbad talking about how he'll see you again soon, but now it's time for you to go off and have awesome adventures. :')

Aaaaaand now that I've been thinking about this ride again, I am so going to have "Compass of Your Heart" stuck in my head for days. But I won't lie, I LOVE IT. xD

Number two: Disneyland's Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye! I don't think I've ever seen an Indiana Jones movie the whole way through, but that doesn't stop me from thinking this ride is awesomesauce! Disneyland's best queue leads into an adventure movie in ride form; I love the changing doors and the glimpses of the other cars and the overblown music and the twist ending. It's kind of funny that even though [livejournal.com profile] the_wykydtron and I, on our 2007 trip, probably rode this more than anything else, it still doesn't seem to me like the sort of ride you'd find in sweet and happy Disneyland. haha yeah, I don't know what I'm getting at either. ^^;

Tokyo's Indiana Jones ride is in DisneySea, and unfortunately it was closed when Dad and I were there. :( Oh well, something to look forward to next time! :)

And my number one Disney attraction is for sure for sure Tokyo DisneySea's Journey to the Center of the Earth. As much as I adore the other attractions in this list, I'm sorry but there is no way they live up to this one. The effects are amazing, the theming is amazing, the queue is amazing*, the ride is AMAZING. It is like Temple of the Forbidden Eye meets Tower of Terror (I still hate Tower of Terror, but I mean this in a good way?) plus pure, distilled awesomeness. NOT TO BUILD IT UP TOO MUCH, hahaha. xD It starts out really enchanting and then gets terrifying, and the effects are all so flawless that the first time we rode it, I genuinely forgot I was on a ride, and was genuinely frightened. I really don't want to spoil it because I want all of you to one day be able to ride it and be surprised by it, but in my mind this is absolutely Disney's best.

Riding it at night is doubly awesome because it's harder to see when the drop is going to come and also because the brief glimpse you get of Tokyo DisneySea at night is really beautiful. <3

* For the second half of the queue you're supposedly way deep underground, but on one of our many trips through it my dad pointed out a man talking on his cell phone and said, "Wow, great reception down here!" xD;;

Quick! Two fun facts!!

One! Now that it's past midnight -- today is my mom's birthday! :) Why yes she is indeed one day younger than the King of Pop. I think I always remember this fun fact so well only because it is perhaps the only semi-positive thing she has ever said to me about MJ. ^^;

Two! The first time I heard any of the songs on Pink's Funhouse album was on my flight home from Tokyo. That whole flight felt like such a neverending visit to a strange parallel universe that when I was flipping channels the other day and caught the music video for the title song, my first reaction was surprise, like This song exists here, too??
