Some of the things I did today:

~ Started reading Adventure Divas during my shift at the food bank

~ Followed Rick Steves' tip of making a calendar to help you plan your trip (guys I have no idea how many days to allot for for any of the cities I'm visiting D: the only reason I know how many days I'll have in Tokyo is because I have to get to Osaka in time for the H!P concert! I guess I gotta figure out exactly what I want to do in each city but it's hard~~~ :P )

~ Went to my Economics and the Environment class and guys, if any of you are UVic students looking for an elective, I recommend this one 100%. Since we finished the Iliad in my Greek Epic class, this Econ class is easily my FAVOURITE!! When I signed up for it I actually expected it to be really hard and also really depressing, but it's not, it's pretty easy and so, so fascinating, graphs and all. xD;

~ Worked on my novel even though wow I cannot write today at all. :/ It's so weird how some days I'm like "LOOK AT ME I AM AN AMAZING WRITER!" and some days I can barely even remember how to form a sentence, haha. So maybe it was a good thing when betaraider's fiancé interrupted me, although he certainly was no help in figuring out how many days I should spend in Kyoto etc. >:P

~ Went to the library to work on my novel some more (augh it was like pulling teeth D: ) and then check out the Spanish language section, because by almost total accident I have learned of the author Isabel Allende, who writes fantasy novels that are more or less at my reading level. So that is A+ FOR AWESOME!!! :D! I borrowed El reino del dragón de oro, which will hopefully be entertaining. (It is currently sitting in a pile with the three Japanese grammar books I also have on loan.) Guys, you know what is the most frustrating thing ever? How I can spend so much time studying Japanese and still have extreme difficulty reading Kitchen, and meanwhile I forget about Spanish for years at a time and yet have very little difficult reading it. I mean, I know why this is so, they are very different languages, but at the same time talk about frustrating. >://

Also I still have not worked out how best to continue studying both languages. I was all gung-ho for Spanish but since I booked my flight to Japan I've been all gung-ho for Japanese. BALANCE, I NEED IT.

~ Went to Bolen Books and bought two Christmas presents and two travel books about Japan. MAYBE IF I BUY ENOUGH BOOKS, THIS TRIP WILL PLAN ITSELF!!!? Well, technically one of the books is about Japanese culture and etiquette, and I meant for my dad to read it since he'll be in Tokyo with me for just over a week, but he seems to have very little interest in it. :/ Actually he seems to have given up on learning anything more about Japan before we leave. I think I might have overwhelmed him? But it was his fault for asking so many questions about the writing system! >:( (Much like "Horrify the Twilight Noob," this game is called "Horrify the Kanji Noob" ... D: )

~ Watched my current favourite show Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide with my brother, who for some reason has been in a very good mood this week, so yay! :D (I also watched part of The King and I which was on TCM. I shouldn't like that movie so much but I do~)

~ Watched War Dance, a documentary I bought at the same time I bought Casi Casi. It took me so long to watch it because I knew it would be really sad, and it definitely was, but it was also really amazing, and I feel I should have something good and deep to say about it but I don't. haha well I only finished watching it like half an hour ago, so maybe I should let it sink in before I try to talk about it.

~ This entry turned out to be longer and probably more boring than I imagined it would, but basically I just wanted to say that isn't it bizarre that though I'm still in exactly the same places physically, I feel like an almost totally different person than I was at this time last year. And ... it's weird? But I think it's good. I'm glad to be growing after a summer where I felt I was stagnating.
