in which sarah forgets how to write a cohesive sentence

haha okay so I've had this uploaded for two days now so I guess I better finally link to it. xD; Even more of a hack video than my "Chain" video, may I present to you ...

Pirates of the Caribbean - "Dance of Curse"

(I say it is even hackier than the other one because can you find where I stopped making edits? xD; )

With my "Chain" video, I definitely prefer the original music in that scene. But with this one? MAN! I vote "Dance of Curse" makes everything more awesome than it already is. xD; I especially like how it fits at the end of my hacky video, where the "There's no boats" line is made all exciting and stuff. xD; But as I told [livejournal.com profile] athena_crikey, I ran out of song before I ran out of battle scene, and while I considered redoing it or making a sequel, I have since decided against it. Making hacky videos is fun but only to a point. xD;

And with that, even though my love for Pirates continues to border on the ridiculous, I think I shall pull my next fanvid from a totally different movie. (Exciting!!) Well, first, a little ramble about my "Broken Hearted Soul" video:

So I consider this to be the most fanficcy video I have made so far. Having said that, I don't really know if the fanficcy aspect came through ... and it doesn't really bother me if it didn't, because when I had to start reusing clips from the maelstrom scene I knew it would kind of ruin the effect I was hoping for. And it's not like my idea for this video was the most original thing ever, anyway. xD;

SO the basic idea I had for this video is that everything from the maelstrom scene is happening in the present, and all the other clips and most of the lyrics are the memories that are going through Will's head as he's dying. This in itself is not particularly fanficcy, I realize, but I also on purpose avoided using any post-Kiss of Death clips in which Will and Elizabeth are getting along (um, except the parlay scene, I just realized - whoops!), especially their wedding scene, in an attempt to make it seem like they were Not Talking right up until Jones stabbed him. Oh, tragic - ! ;D I realize all this is not as obvious as I'd hoped it would be, and I'm sure my reusing of maelstrom scene clips didn't help ... when I started making this video I didn't realize how short that part actually is or how hard it would be to chop it up and still keep it looking nice! :/

As for there being a lot of Tia Dalma in the video, I was trying to be especially clever by including her as a sort of creepy foreshadowing but also maybe as representing Elizabeth, in a way. Originally I had this fantastic plan that every time I used a clip of Davy Jones, I would fade it into a clip of Will, and every time I used a clip of Tia Dalma, I would fade it into a clip of Elizabeth. This turned out to be not quite as practical as I was hoping, but I still did it a couple of times. (I feel the Davy -> Will transitions are more obvious, so I will just point out that there is a Tia Dalma -> Elizabeth transition at 1:54.) So yeah, I didn't include her with the intention of making her a love interest or anything like that, but if that's how you want to read it, then you are perfectly welcome to.

And another silly little note: I was originally going to attempt to cut out the part of the bridge with the spoken lines in it, until I decided to do just that part from Elizabeth's point of view. I don't think that detail really matters, that part fits for either Will or Elizabeth, but just in case you wanted some BEHIND THE SCENES info there ... xD;;

ahaha yes. None of this really matters but I just wanted to get it out there anyway. :D

Ahah, I like how you just stop editing at all at the end there. ^^ Also, interesting choice of scene overall. I didn't think about it before watching, but after a while I was all "... this entire thing is from DMC, isn't it? How bizarre." I just don't think about DMC a lot, is the motto of this story.

My experience in making AMVs is that if you do not make your point really blatantly, no one will get it. I once tried to make an MGS one to In The End (it was my obligatory Linkin Park video! Someday I may finish it.) with the point being that in the end, it doesn't matter (^^) what Snake does, he will always be like the man he was cloned from. This was the entire point, and with each scene there was a flashback to a similar one featuring his cloner, and STILL it was not apparent. So, yeah. (Oh, hey, In The End just came on.)

Ahahah. I was all, "What's this 'Dance of Curse' song?" And then I started watching and it was ESCA. FLOWNE. :DDDD
