let vengeance howl; the pirate so decides

This entry is sort of a continuation of my piratey entry from yesterday, but first I guess I should talk about other things so you guys don't think that PotC is the only thing I think about, even though it is. :D
So yesterday I had my first training shift at my new movie theatre job. It wasn't terribly exciting but I enjoyed it for what it was, and I'm actually really glad to begin with these two classroom training shifts. For the first while we read from the employee manuals (and made nametags and ate candy), and then we went on a tour which I thought was paced just right. :) Much better than my toy store tour, haha; that one consisted of quickly walking a loop through the store while the girl who was training me called out things like, "That's baby. That's girls'. That's outdoors." It was not detailed enough to be helpful. :/ (I feel bad writing things like this because
the_wykydtron is continuing to work there ... but I think she's man enough to take it, right?) This tour was more detailed and more exciting! XD We went to the break room (where, wonder of wonders, the furniture is not falling apart!), the office, the ROOM OF CANDY haha awesome, the projection rooms (you climb up the stairs to one and then to get to the other you have to walk through this little level that's high above the lobby - I never even knew this existed but it was really cool!!) where I got to watch a bit of soundless Shrek the Third, and then for no apparent reason we went up onto the roof, hahaha. My brother and his girlfriend were very jealous when I told them this because in their years of working at the theatre, they've apparently never been on the roof. XD Pwned!!
The schedule is posted on a bulletin board in the break room; it's a bunch of standard pieces of paper tacked together in columns. In the quick glance I had at it, I could tell there were quite a lot of names, but you guys know I am not so good with the mathematics, so today I asked my brother how many people work at the theatre and he said from sixty to eighty. HOLY MAN!!! That's a lot of people! At my fast food job we usually had eight employees; at the toy store it's more than that but still less than sixty! I can't even believe this! haha. One day I shall have to count the number of people on the schedule, just to verify. Oh man, I hope this doesn't mean I'm constantly working with strangers. It probably won't, but still, my goodness. ^^;
And another thing about the training is that I'm pretty sure I was the oldest one there. :X Everyone else being trained seemed to be in high school, and there were two of them who gave off the impression that this was their first job. I'm sure they're both very nice people, but their lack of any sort of professionalism bothered me a lot more than I would have expected it to. One girl kept boasting about the number of employees she's already friends with (I think that's the only reason she wants this job), and then she answered her cell phone while the trainer was talking. !!! Another girl said absolutely nothing until the idea of free movies was brought up. Then she was burying the trainer in questions about how we can get free movies and how many we can get and when we can get them and how many friends we can bring and if this is all applicable to such-and-such a movie and OH MAN. At least pretend you're here for more than the free movies! Geeze! :P
In other news, my latest J-pop order came today, a very speedy delivery from Amazon.co.jp. :D Duo U&U, W's first album, was one of my purchases, and I felt kind of bad ordering it now that W is dead. ^^; But it was totally worth it. This album is a cover of older J-pop songs and it totally exceeded my expectations. :) I've only listened to it once so far, so the songs are all kind of blended together in my head, but still, I really liked them. XD I also got GAM's first album, Amai Yuuwaku, which I sort of skipped through. It seems rather better than Sexy 8 Beat, MoMusu's 2007 album, though. And yay for "LU LU LU." XD I also got a concert DVD, Hello! Pro Party Goto Maki Captain Kouen. I've read a bunch of forum posts saying that one should download this concert instead of buying it, but what I've watched of it so far looked pretty good to me. And this concert's performance of "Daite yo! Please Go On" is one of my favourite H!P performances ever, so even if the rest of it is terrible I still won't mind too much. ;)
The only non-H!P item in this order is one that everyone is going to make fun of me for. XD The Japanese DVD of the first PotC movie, woohoo!! XD I've only watched a wee little bit of the film in Japanese dub; I shall have to be patient and not watch any more until
athena_crikey can watch it with me. I expect to understand an unusual amount simply because I have seen the movie in English way too many times. XD
And that's about all I wanted to say about that stuff, so now I guess we can move onto the goods ... XD
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
- It's now been a whole day since I saw PotC3. (Crazy that this is a big deal to me, haha.) The more I think about this movie, the more I like it. I feel a bit as though I had had doubts about whether or not I really liked the PotC movies, and PotC3 completely solidified my love for them. I mean, I didn't have doubts like that, haha, but that's sort of how it feels.
- I didn't talk much yesterday about the scene before the big battle where Will and Beckett and Jones are on one side and Barbossa and Elizabeth and Jack are on the other, all facing each other ... but I really liked it, despite the electric guitar. ;) I loved Jones standing in the bucket of water, hahaha, because I had always wondered while watching PotC2 if that was a way to get around his plight. Like his own version of Jack's jar of dirt, hahaha. XD;;; I wonder how he got there, though! Did Will and Beckett have to carry him out and stick him in the bucket? Or did he, like, jump into it? Hahaha, dumb. XD I also liked how Elizabeth was like, "First things first: give me back my man!!" XD XD XD hahahaha.
- I liked near the end when Barbossa called Elizabeth "Mrs. Turner." ^_^ It was a nice echo of the first movie, where he calls her "Miss Turner," and also it made me think, "Aw, Barbossa, you DO care!" XD XD XD;; I wonder if he ever figured out what her actual last name is, hahaha. The only thing I can figure is maybe when Governor Swann was floating by, he might've been like, "Ooooooh, so thaaaaaat's her name." THIS IS SO NOT A BIG DEAL WHY AM I WRITING A WHOLE PARAGRAPH ABOUT IT
- Nothing to do with the actual movie, but. Last year my father was on a local news channel the day PotC2 was released, the day after my friends and I had waited in line for two hours in order to see the midnight showing. XD At the end of the show, the host asked everyone who they named the "Newsmaker of the Week," and my dad said Johnny Depp. Asked the host, "But you wouldn't stay up till midnight to watch him?" Aha. Apparently my dad talks about me at work more than I suspect. ^^; Yesterday when she dropped me off at the theatre, I pointed out to my mom the girl who stood at the very front of the line, dressed as Jack Sparrow. My mom then went home and told my dad, who phoned the newspaper, who sent a photographer to the theatre to snap a picture of this cosplayer, and said picture was in the paper this morning. WOW! You have no idea how important this whole thing makes me feel! hahaha. Even though my dad said there should have been a photographer sent to the theatre without him having to tell them to send one. XD;; Hahaha, look at me, promoting PotC and not even receiving any cheques for my hard work. ;D
- When Barbossa was like, "You shot me!" and Jack replied, "I did not!" and kept walking? COMEDY GOLD! XD hahahahahaha~
- Did I even mention Sao Feng at all yesterday? hahahahaha. XD I don't really have anything to say about him. I was actually glad that he kicked it so early. I just didn't find him all that interesting, and he kept getting in the way when all I wanted was more of our favourite main characters!!! >:P I imagine I'll grow to like him ... it took me ages to begin to like Barbossa ... but even if I don't, at least I don't have to put up with him for the whole movie. XD Bwahaha!
- I quite liked the shot of Jack running after the Pearl as the crabs carried it away. XD Kind of like how my favourite shot of the Cannibal Island sequence in PotC2 is the shot of Jack running towards the Pearl as the sails unfurl?
- I am actually really pleased with the way they dealt with the whole Will/Elizabeth thread that was left hanging at the end of PotC2. I mean, they talked! Even just that makes me happy, because I was so afraid it was going to be a repeat of Shrek 2. I mean, Shrek 2 would have been about fifteen minutes long except that the writers managed to come up with all those ways to prevent Shrek and Fiona from talking. :P That frustrated me. So I'm really glad they had Will and Elizabeth talk and allowed problems to grow out of that instead of out of the fact that they weren't talking. Haha, if this makes any sense. :) I really liked that line of Elizabeth's, something like, "We've rescued Jack, it's over now." <3 Will practically pushing her into the wall in order to get a proper answer out of her kind of freaked me out, but she pushed him later on, so I guess it evens out in the end. XD;;; And even when they were angry with each other and unsure about each other, they kept doing everything they could to protect each other, and I really liked that. So I'm really glad that they handled Will/Elizabeth the way that they did ... even if it did lead to such an ending. XD;;
- When Will asked Elizabeth what her choice was and she cried out, "Barbossa!," I TOTALLY fell into the writers' trap there. XD I was like, "SHUT UP ELIZABETH YOU CAN'T HAVE EVERY MAN IN THIS SERIES!!!!!" Hahaha. That's really the only thing that bothers me in series where there's only really one female character ... she's always so impossibly popular with the men. :P *cough*Aladdin*cough*
- I liked Jack's "Larry" joke ... but I would have liked it a TON better if I wasn't still recovering from Norrington's death. ;_;
athena_crikey was right, Norrington's death happens and then is never mentioned again, which is a little strange. I mean, you'd think there would be SOMETHING. As it is, it's Liz being all "ZOMG JAMES!!!" and then I guess she just gets over it. Or something.
- This is really stupid, haha, but even though the death of Governor Swann affected me like it did, afterwards I kept forgetting it had happened. Or something! When Elizabeth told Norrington she wouldn't forgive him, I totally could not think of what on earth she was talking about. I was like, "Why would you forgive him? You're the one who messed up his life!!" XD;;
And I guess that's all for now, because I have to get up early tomorrow to work my last shift at the toy store. :) I just now changed the ticker on my LJ profile from a PotC3 countdown to a OotP countdown ... Makes me sad! :( I mean, I am looking forward to July's Harry Potter goodness, but not with half as much excitement as I was looking forward to PotC3. :/ Sigh.
