So it is ~JET application season~ and yesterday after successfully requesting a letter of recommendation from one of my profs I randomly thought to check to see if there were any info sessions happening at my university, and omg perfect timing because it was TODAY! I went in kind of thinking that I've been reading about this program since I was in high school, what would an info session have to teach me about it, but I think I actually learned quite a number of things. And I enjoyed watching the video they showed, although the effects in it were very '80s haha. So I am pretty stoked now to start my application!!

On a similar topic, today I bought a book very dryly titled ESL Grammar, and it says right on the cover that it's for intermediate and advanced ESL learners so I felt a bit silly buying it, but whatever! It seems like a solid book on English grammar without the pages of exercises that all the other books had, so I was pretty happy to find it. Tomorrow I'm volunteering in not one but TWO ESL classes - the low level class, and then a slightly higher level class because the teacher I've been volunteering for wants me and the other volunteer to be there for the students' book report presentations. I'm not quite sure why but I guess I'll find out!

Then this evening I went to the birthday party of one of my managers! I realized the other day that it's been a solid two months since I hung out with anyone. (Because most of my friends now live out of town, the friends that are here have work schedules that are the opposite of mine, and I would hang out with my co-workers more often except that most of their outings involve clubbing, of which I am not a fan.) I don't feel starved of social interaction or anything, because I am introverted enough that work and volunteering provide quite enough for me (seriously, if I were a Sim my social meter would always be full), but even so it's definitely nice to just hang out with people sometimes! Twelve of us went out for dinner (where another manager paid for my chocolate milk! hahaha this was a totally random promise that I did not expect him to fulfill) and then in dwindling numbers we went through a corn maze (hilarity ensued!) and a haunted house (not even a quarter as scary as the one [livejournal.com profile] mydochas and I went through in Kyoto, although I was still glad when we caught up with the group ahead of us!) and also rode a train around the farm where all this is located. Then we went to yet another manager's house and watched mindless TV until one in the morning, and in the car my fellow MJ fan had control of the music so we blasted songs from HIStory all the way home. xD A pretty awesome day I must say!

AND NOW IT IS FOUR DAYS TILL NANOWRIMO

SERIOUSLY THIS IS THE LONGEST COUNTDOWN OF MY LIFE

I am so excited and so ready to rock it so why won't it just start already!! :B
