Whoops, forgot to post for a while there! ... and that's all I have to say, so I probably shouldn't even be posting right now. x)
I'm having a pretty good week! I've gotten out of bed before noon for three days straight now (and no "big deal" comments, please; I get enough of that in real life) and I have actually been pretty productive. My days off lately have been filled with studying, as today is one hundred days until the JLPT!! I have no idea whether I'll pass or not but at this point I'm not too concerned about it. I mainly take the JLPT for the motivation it gives me, so as long as I'm learning, passing would just be a bonus. :)
Pretend there's a segue here. Last night my main manager gave me a bit of a lecture; he asked me if I was going back to school and when I went all uncertain on him he started talking about how I should, because I'm too smart to be working at the movie theatre (his words, not mine!) and if I'm still working there five years from now he's going to be so upset with me. I was really surprised by this but really glad for it; it's somehow helpful for me to know he doesn't expect me to be there forever. Unfortunately though, what I have in smarts I lack in motivation, hence why I've been at the movie theatre for three years already. :/ Although I'm definitely in a better place now that I was at this time last year - I'm bugging a couple places to let me volunteer for them, I found out today that I've been accepted to the in-person interviews for Walt Disney World, and soon I will be starting my very first application to JET! (After only about ten years of back-and-forthing about it, yeah shush.) So you know. Hopefully SOMETHING different comes from all this!
(My manager going on about how I'm "too smart" also managed to mostly heal the annoyance I felt after a bunch of my co-workers found out I have a degree in Japanese Language and Literature and spent the next five minutes soundly mocking me for it. Look, obviously I KNOW it's one of those "useless" degrees; you don't need to imply that I'm an idiot for getting it when you know nothing about it!)
(Although in the midst of all this, one of my co-workers shouted at full volume the only Japanese he knows - "Mainichi hanbaagaa wo tabemasu!" - and that made me laugh. :D )
