pardon my fangirling
Jan. 23rd, 2008 04:55 amI usually pay very little attention to the Oscars (especially since Johnny Depp got SHAFTED), but gosh, for whatever reason this year I care unusually so.
- At World's End is nominated for make-up and for visual effects. And here I was secretly hoping it would get an end-of-the-trilogy sweep just like Return of the King did. :( I keep forgetting I'm the only one who likes this movie. I don't really care about the make-up category, but if AWE doesn't pwn the visual effects category that will honestly be the biggest joke ever. Every time I think about how much CGI is in that movie it just blows my mind. And it's all so good!! (lol that the picture they're using is from DMC. _-_; )
- As an animation fan maybe this is horrible for me to say, but I hate that there's a separate category for Best Animated Film. It's as though after Beauty and the Beast was nominated for Best Picture, those not in the animation business felt all threatened and so pushed animation even further away from themselves. Maybe some would make the argument that the Best Animated Film category is a good thing, allowing good animated movies to be recognized, but I disagree. There are so few animated films put out each year that this category is little more than a joke. I mean, Ratatouille, fine, nominate that if you want. But for serious, why is Surf's Up nominated? OH, BECAUSE IT'S THERE.
It just SUCKS that now an animated film can never again be nominated for Best Picture. I can't even get my thoughts together in order to continue this paragraph, this topic makes me so mad. >_<
- Enchanted has three nominations, all in the same category: "Happy Working Song," "That's How You Know," and "So Close" all nominated for Best Song. :D Okay well to be honest I don't even know how "So Close" got in there, compared to the other two it is so much less exciting. But gosh, if either "Happy Working Song" or "That's How You Know" wins (I'm especially rooting for the latter), I will cry. Seriously I will bawl. Because it has been over ten years since Alan Menken got a Disney Oscar, and WHAT IS UP WITH THAT.
Oh gosh I really hope he gets it. But what if I build myself up too much and then he doesn't? THAT WILL BE EVEN WORSE D:
