Things Older than Dad

For my dad's birthday today, I bought him a card with a picture of John Lennon on the front and inside I wrote "Dear Daddy, here is a picture of someone you have outlived."

BECAUSE TASTEFUL IS MY MIDDLE NAME!!!

I would like to invent a time machine so I can go back in time and ask my past self what on earth that sentence is supposed to mean. I think it must just be missing a word, but for the life of me I don't know which one.

Edit 2: In only three days my novel's structure has altered a good amount. I think if you look at the structure in a "big picture" sort of way, it now resembles one of those chick flicks where there's a group of women and they all have something in common and it is HEARTWARMING. Well, you can probably tell that I have never actually seen a movie like this, but I've seen commercials!! Hopefully mine won't be heartwarming though. I think the relationships and the details will be squicky enough that it won't be heartwarming.
