arisha: (max!!)
I have to post this because I find it terribly terribly hilarious. Today, while waiting for writing class to start, I was sitting with a couple of my friends who were complaining about how the classroom is always freezing cold, and then one of them commented on how I don't feel it half as bad as they do, look Sarah is still wearing shorts and sandals what a doof, et cetera et cetera! The guy who plays the euphonium in band was there, too, and he said something about how I didn't feel the cold because I was from Iceland or something. O.o Well this was news to me, hahaha! He said he thought I was from somewhere sort of far away ("exotic," he said ;) ) and famous for being cold. "You mean Calgary?" I asked. :P But hahaha I was so amused! Nobody's ever said anything like that to me before! I mean, Iceland?

But it was even better when he told me he had thought that because of the kinds of poems I write. Like, because they all take place in other countries and in other centuries and everything. And so he thought that to know the kinds of things needed to write like that, I'd need to have some sort of background, and being from a country with a lot of exciting history was as good an explanation as any. How cool is that!! I am from Iceland and I am super smart!! The truth being that I am from Calgary and I just read a lot and make up the rest. ;) I gotta tell you, though, that totally made my morning. More proof that I am a doof. :D

Then they started talking about Vikings and what it would be like if, in the future, everyone got around by ricksaw. Like, you'd see a bus go by, and you'd see twenty men running behind pushing it. This is not a rickshaw exactly, I know, but it's good enough! When we suggested this kid put his rickshaw idea into use in a NaNoWriMo novel, he then proceeded to calculate that at his typing speed, it would take him two-and-a-quarter days of straight typing to hit 50,000 words. This year we are totally pushing NaNoWriMo on everyone we meet. Wouldn't that be awesome if the whole school wrote novels this November?? Haha. Actually. Maybe not. ;D

In other news! My brother got the second-best mark on his Spanish test! He is getting 91% in the class! I am the proudest big sister you ever did see!! <3
