Today I was sitting in the cafeteria eating my expensive pizza and I heard someone call, "Have a good Christmas!" And oh man, now I really want to say that whenever I say bye to anybody. I can't do it now because it would be annoying, but in the summer? I think it would be fantastic.

Also, the top three people I wanted to go see HP4 with? The three people I discussed going to see HP4 with? All three went to go see HP4 without me. NOW I HAVE TO GO SEE IT WITH MY MOM. I always knew my lack of cool was not my fault, and now I have proof.

Actually, to be honest, at this point I am kind of indifferent as to whether I see it or not, but dude. Shafted.

AND HERE IS AN AMUSING DIALOGUE THAT [livejournal.com profile] mydochasたち DIDN'T UNDERSTAND SO MAYBE SOMEONE CAN EXPLAIN IT TO THEM YEAH I SAID IT!!!

Telephone: *ring ring*
Sarah: Hello?
Sarah's Co-Worker: Hi, Sarah? Are you busy on Friday?
Sarah: ... I'm scheduled to work on Friday.

OH SNAP--!

Edit: I am fascinated by the use of the word 許す (yurusu, "to forgive") in Hello! Project songs, and when I have more time I am going to write in great depth about it. And other words, too. And if Petit Best 4 can be looked at as a single, connected story - the same words are used over and over and is that just Tsunku getting stuck? Or is there a better reason? And themes. And the passing of time (there seem to be a lot of hyakumannens that are sugitatteing, ifyaknowwhaddImean). And also my theory of Aa!, which will probably do nothing but demonstrate that I think way too much about J-pop. But never mind that now. In Berryz Koubou's "Special Generation" (which is six billion times awesome), there is a lyric just before the first chorus that goes (Miyabi is awesome):

余所見なんて
許さないわよ

And as you can see it has that fascinating word in it and so finally today I looked the rest of it up.

余所見 (n, vs) = yosomi = "looking away, looking aside"

... Well, okay, that's the only word I didn't know. But now I know. And so here is my translation, although it is probably six billion times awful:

"I won't forgive you
For looking away"

Man, that's awesome. I don't know why I think that's so awesome. That's awesome. It's the only instance of a H!P 許す being in the negative, at least that I've noticed so far. And I love that it's coming from one of H!P's younger groups. I mean, I can't get over how naive the 許す in Country Musume's "Uwakina Honey Pie" sounds (versus the plaintive 許す in Morning Musume's "As For One Day" and the 許す in Melon Kinenbi's "This is Unmei" which is said sort of accusingly, but at the same time rather quickly, as if to just get it out of the way), and then here's Berryz being all bitter, and it's awesome. Singing about loving someone forever even as you can't forgive them? These lyrics are perhaps a lot more interesting than I thought they would be~~

I am so going to do a Master's just so I can write about the use of all of this stuff in Hello! Project. It's so fascinating. You just wait and see~~!!!

((Speaking of H!P lyrics, I used to not be so keen on the lyrics to "Osaka Koi no Uta" because I thought they were sort of weak, but then I was listening to it on Thursday night and now I feel I know exactly what they mean.))
