Holy flying magic carpet, Jafar!
Man, you guys, Aladdin Jr. was awesome. And very interesting, I thought, to compare to the version playing in DCA. xD; But I'll spare you the pain of reading all my blabber on that and will just throw out some random notes. xD
~ Before we left, I was like, "Oh man, I wonder if 'To Be Free' is going to be in it!," but it wasn't, and that was probably for the better actually, because the actress playing Jasmine was not the greatest singer. ^^;
~ lolz, SO much jumping into the orchestra pit, I loved it. xDD It reminded me of the class project version I watched the rehearsal of once in high school, hahahaha, oh I laughed so obnoxiously hard watching that thing but it was so awesome. xD;
~ Rajah was played by this big beefy dude who also played a guard, but as Rajah he had on these awesome fuzzy orange pants and a tiger mask that didn't even properly cover his face. xD; There was a scene where Jasmine and the sultan were taking turns using his back as a chair, haha, and I don't think he appreciated it. xD; But even better was when Ali and Jasmine flew off on the carpet and he stretched his arm out over the balcony and made this really pathetic D: face, and they turned the balcony around and he was still making that face, hahahaha, so hilarious. xDD;;
~ For serious, one of my favourite parts of any Aladdin is when Al is trying to be all manly and fantastic as a prince and is failing miserably. xD; This one featured a bit where he was practicing saying "Ababwa," hahaha, and then he didn't even get to say it because he fell over the balcony railing and rolled all down the stairs. xD;;;;
~ In a way I think there are parts of this thing that work better as a live show than as a movie! I LOVE "Friend Like Me" as a huge dance number, they even did the part where they slow it down and speed it up again~ LOVE. <3 And "Prince Ali" is SO MUCH WIN, aaaaugh I love all the performers running down the aisles, it's so EXCITING. xD It was a touch better in DCA because there were certain points in the song where the audience had been, like, trained to clap and holler and go crazy like Ali was a superstar. xD But this version was cool, too, because they set up a rope as though Ali was walking the red carpet, and he even signed one girl's stomach. xD;; But I don't think "Prince Ali (Reprise)" works as well onstage as it does in the movie. For one thing, they never seem to know what to actually do with Al at the end of the song. :p But at least in this version they had Genie take Al's prince shirt off at "precious Prince Ali!" xD;; In the DCA version he never returned to his street rat clothes and so that part never really worked for me. :P
~ hahaha omg, the second act opened with the Sultan playing video games! xDDD They even had everyone's favourite Mario music playing! And Jafar came in and was like, "I have found a solution to the problem with your daughter!" and the Sultan was all distracted and like, "What's that, sweetheart?" xDDDD!
~ AND THEN GENIE AND ABU AND CARPET WERE PLAYING DDR OMG IT WAS THE BEST. <3333 They replaced the chess game with DDR that is so total WIN. xDD
~ Genie: "Phenomenal cosmic power!! ... Itty bitty living space."
Aladdin: "Genie, that's awful."
Genie: "Hey, it's better than living in one of those condos in downtown Victoria."
~ Genie didn't turn into a bee in order to offer advice, he just, like, ran on and off the stage and around the set and it was funny. xD
~ They didn't end with Genie which made me sad. It's tradition!! haha. But they did throw in everyone's favourite Disneyland joke, except that instead of his traditional Goofy hat, Genie was wearing a Minnie Mouse hat!! xDDDDD oh, awesome. xDDD
~ Genie: "Wish for something outrageous! Say 'I wish for an affordable arts facility in Victoria!'"
~ Sultan: "My trusted advisor, plotting against me all this time! I should've guessed from the crazy facial hair." xDD
~ And the part where Jasmine kisses Jafar, hahaha, everyone else stopped in their group pursuit of the lamp and said, "EW." And then Jafar was like, "That was ..." and everyone else was like, "YUCK." xDDD;
~ Sultan: "Oh, my dear boy, I could kiss you. But I won't, I'll leave that to Jasmine. Don't force her! [to Jasmine] You know you can always fake a headache." (hahaha WHAT, I thought this show was for the kids! xD;;; )
~ When Genie was listing his rules, they played horror movie music for "can't kill anyone," he made Aladdin run towards him in cheesey romance slow-mo for "can't make anybody fall in love," and they played the start of "Thriller" for "can't bring people back from the dead." Which was awesome in itself, but then Genie and Abu did part of the "Thriller" zombie dance!!!!! aaaaah so awesome. xDDD
~ For the sultan's announcement, they had the balcony set up so that the Agrabanian crowd was sort of behind the set and Jasmine, Ali, and the Sultan had their backs to the audience. Jafar was facing the audience, and when he made his wish, they swung the balcony around so that the three royals were flung off it and Jafar was standing on it. It was actually some really cool staging. *_* Although I could've done without all the screaming crowd, hahaha. ^^;
~ Genie often had to stop in the middle of a joke to run offstage and grab a humourous prop, which I didn't think was the best way to do it, really. ^^; But one part that was pretty awesome was when he came out of the lamp to discover that he was talking to Jafar instead of Al. You know there's that joke in the movie where he's reading off a program? Here he actually ran offstage, into the audience, asked for a program, grabbed somebody's program, ran back onstage, flipped through the pages, said, "Tonight the part of Al will be played by a tall, dark and sinister ugly man. Sorry we didn't put an insert in there" haha xD , and then Jafar grabbed the program from him, crumpled it up, and threw it into the orchestra pit!! xD;;; Ahahaha that poor guy never got his program back. xDDDD;
~ Like DCA, they did the thing at the end of the bows where they sing "Friend Like Me" all together and then do stupid dances as the curtain falls. xD Oh, I love that it ends like that! The movie ends with "Friend Like Me," too, if you're like me and always listen to the first part of the end credits. xDDD <3!
~ They used "where they cut off your ear / if they don't like your face"!! !!! O_O I was SHOCKED! (My copy of the soundtrack actually has that line in it. xD I'm old school!)
~ After "Just whisper what it is you want," Al seemed to be like "well, okay!" and he moved towards Genie in order to whisper what it was he wanted, except that before he could, Genie shouted "YOU AIN'T NEVER HAD A FRIEND LIKE ME!!" right in his face! xDD hahaha, what a jerk!! xDD
~ Genie: "How 'bout that, Mr. Doubting Mufasa? -- Oops, wrong show." ^^;;
~ During the scene at the end where Genie says good-bye to everyone (I actually really like that part, it's so happy xD ), when he got to Abu he sang, "Good-bye to the monkey!" to the tune of the Monkees theme song!! xD hahaha excellent. <3
Okay I think that's all that I feel a desperate need to say. xD Man, I guess this is why this is my number one favourite movie, huh - I can watch it over and over and so many versions of it over and over and I never ever start to get bored. xD
(And my brother's girlfriend and I spent intermission watching a trio of the most adorable kids ever make-believing they were Aladdin and pretending to karate-chop each other. hahaha, that was awesome, too. xD )

If it makes you feel any better, honestly like 95% of the dialogue was straight from the movie. ^^;
