this entry is short but Disneyriffic

1) While in middle school, at what I had previously thought to be the height of my Disney fangirlery (it doesn't really seem like it now that I've bought myself a trip to Disneyland, hahahaha), I taped the Aladdin series and the Hercules series continuously for at least about a year. How many copies of each series do you think I have? I really have no idea! So far among my tapes I have discovered three copies of the Aladdin episode "Power to the Parrot" and three copies of the Hercules episode "Hercules and the Arabian Night." So at least three copies of each series? Although I have mysteriously yet to locate a copy of "The Secret of Dagger Rock," and I feel this is my greatest failing in life.

2) Anyway, so I was watching "Hercules and the Arabian Night" for the third time in as many days (because IT'S AWESOME, obviously, not just because I need a hobby), and I was thinking that it's pretty cool that they actually did a really good job with the episode. I mean, yeah, the plot is ridiculous and its conclusion even moreso, but I feel that the crossover was done in a way that stays true to both series and I think that's really cool. (Although I think Al and Jas are a little too easily surprised through the whole episode. Watching them I kind of feel like they are making fun of their past selves or something, hahaha.) Plus this time I saw the market woman from "The Day the Bird Stood Still" hanging around with the background characters, hahaha, and I was unnecessarily excited by that cameo. XD; BUT ANYWAY the point is that I was all "Wow, all the Aladdin characters are pretty well in character, that's excellent because they could have just flubbed it if they were feeling slack about it," and then I watched the end credits and three of the people who worked on this episode also worked on the Aladdin series. HAHAHA!! I was like, "Oh. That's why they're in character." XD;;;;

Now I feel I must apologize to you, because I feel as though the above paragraph is of the kind where once you have read it, you are suddenly not as smart as you were before you read it. Hahahaha, oops. XD

3) I must admit that when beginning to go through my tapes (if you haven't noticed yet, this organizing project has taken over my life), I was a little nervous that I would find I had outgrown the Hercules series and wouldn't find it funny anymore. I wasn't so nervous about the Aladdin series because I'd watched it more recently. But actually what's funny about watching Aladdin this time around is I'm totally liking episodes I was only indifferent to before, and episodes I used to love I'm kind of indifferent to now. Example: I used to adore "Raiders Redux" but when I watched it again I was like, "... That's it?" The story in that episode goes WAY TOO FAST. They should've made it a two-parter or something. There's a scene where Al, who has supposedly become a Marauder, is given the order to execute Jasmine, and you're like "AWESOME!! TENSION!!!!," but it lasts maybe two seconds because then Genie decides it's time for some comic relief. And you're like "ZOMG WHY!!!!!" And I used to not care for "Some Enchanted Genie" but I watched it last night and found it totally amusing. It's also kind of interesting in that usually when Genie and Aladdin are talking, it's Aladdin going "OMG GENIE LISTEN TO THIS!!!" and Genie going "O RLY?" but in this episode it is flipped! I just like the part where Genie is going on and on and Al just says, "Yeah? Mmhmm?" as though he is just terribly amused by the whole thing but has nothing of any substance to say about it. HAHAHAHAHAHA, I think I have seen these episodes way too many times and have started reading things into them that don't even exist. XD

And then today I was watching "The Citadel" and that one is also interesting because it's sort of been flipped, and maybe I figured out why that one frightened me so much when I was younger. In most episodes, you know it's going to end up okay because even if Genie is trapped you know someone is going to free him and he will help there be a happy ending, whether or not it turns out to be a touch deus ex machina. But the whole point of "The Citadel" is that both Genie and Carpet are powerless against the monster and so you're like "Oh no! Al has to rely on himself to beat this one? He hasn't had to do that since the first movie!!!" Which is maybe a harsh thing to say, hahaha, and perhaps untrue, but I think that's why that episode bothered me so much. It has less a guarantee of a happy ending than episodes where Genie is able to be all helpful and stuff.

BUT ANYWAY WHAT WAS I TALKING ABOUT OH RIGHT HERCULES. So I was afraid I wouldn't find it funny anymore but apparently my sense of humour has not at all changed. I still think the watch jokes are a shining example of hilariousness. Because it's set in ancient Greece? So they wear sundials on their wrists? "Let's synchronize our watches!" "Night!" "Good!" AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA EXCELLENT!!! And I had totally forgotten about my favourite line of like the entire series, which is Cassandra's "I just had a vision that washing my hair was a complete waste of time." (Right before Poseidon sends a wave crashing onto the school. Too bad this joke needs context and I am totally terrible at making context sound funny.) Oh man, Cassandra, you're killing me. XD XD XD XD But then I am the girl who spent an entire ride in her dad's convertible going, "Why did I bother to brush my hair today? That's a whole minute of my life that I'll never get back!" So maybe Cassandra's joke is one that only I will ever find funny. XD

4) I feel bad when I tell people I'm going to Disneyland, because I feel kind of like I might as well just go up to them and say, "I have two thousand dollars to throw around! How about you?" Despite the fact that I saved that two thousand dollars specifically for this trip and upon my return I am going to be completely and utterly and devastatingly poor. (Or not quite.) But I keep telling people anyway, because as you well know it is all I ever think about anymore. (A dangerous pastime, I know.) And it is actually really interesting, telling so many people the same thing. You say "I'm going to Disneyland!" and some people want to know how you're paying for it, and some people tell you all about their previous trips (although the most amusing story comes from way back when I first started wanting to go; in the summer one of my co-workers told me the story of how he was pushed on purpose during the rush to Splash Mountain and that doesn't sound funny but oh, the way he told that story, it was), and some people just don't really care. But, haha, I find it interesting. It's all good. XD

This entry makes it seem like I really do not have a life but in fact I had quite a life today! Or more than I usually do on any given day, anyway. I went to my first baby shower and I spent a couple hours writing and I listened to music I had never heard before in a genre that I don't usually listen to. And I hung out with my brother and he was nice to me!!! And I even cleaned my room a wee little bit. It's just that then I started going through another one of my tapes and that became all I felt like writing about ... XD XD XD XD;;;;;

Hahahahaha, oh my goodness. If you haven't guessed it yet, I AM FIVE YEARS OLD. XD

And! If you have ever wished there was a likeness of you pirating it up in Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean, then this is the contest for you! (Actually, I think it would be just as awesome to win the pinball machine. My mom had a bizarre catalogue that had that in it for a mere $400! I tried to convince betaraider to buy me one but I don't think I was very successful.) I like how one thousand people will win fourth prize but only fifty people will win fifth prize. Doesn't that seem backwards ... ?

Speaking of looking back at old memories, I was going through old photo's last night when I came across ones of us (and various others) at JAPANESE SUMMER CAMP!

somehow, I don't know, I managed to forget, (yet not let it slip out of my concious memory) that we both went to summer camp, yet didn't really know eachother then. (I didn't really forget, I mean, if someone asked me if I did a japanese summer camp I'd say "oh yeah! of course" or if you did it either, I'd be like "Yeah! I saw sarah all the time!" but somehow it finally clicked again last night like.. "Omg! we were at JAPANESE SUMMER CAMP"

those were such fun times, I looked forward to that every summer, and the food there was SO DELICIOUS.

I find it so weird all this crazy stuff I've done in the past that I rarely even think about now. But I totally remember Japanese summer camp. :D I enjoyed those two weeks sooooo thoroughly. That was the first time I'd ever cried at the end of something like that. I was really sad that evening. ;_;

I remember that the night we went camping, your tent stayed up all night talking and everyone else could hear you guys and in the morning you were all really embarrassed. XD XD XD XD I don't even remember what you were talking about, though ... all I remember is that at one point Dilandau was mentioned, which I found really amusing. I didn't mind that you were talking because I was so cramped in my tent that I wasn't going to fall asleep any time soon anyway. :P But despite the tight space, I had so much fun going camping, it was so awesome. XD I wonder where my pictures are now ... I really took a lot, haha.

That was depressing that they didn't hold it the next year. :( And yes, the food was SO GOOD, maaaaaaan ... now you're making me miss it so much. XD I'm sad I only got to do it the one year. Athena and I were going to do it the year before but then we didn't, I don't really remember ...

Do you still keep in touch from anyone you met there? I had maybe five penpals that I wrote to for a while, but then they were too busy to write, or I was too busy to write ... I should write some of them again, though, I've been meaning to for a while. Ah, letters are hard, e-mail is so much easier, hahaha. ^^;

ah, admittedly, I rpobably spent way too much time with the english kids than the japanese. I didn't exchange any adresses with any of them :( and I wish I had. Albeit, we did have some of the students stay with us then.
