Oh, God, I get mocked for my classical education all the time. I've never been good at playing defense, so finally I've just reached the point where, when people go BUT WHY WOULD YOU STUDY THAT THERE IS NO MONEY THERE, I fire back, "Because I'm not the first person in my family to be college-educated and I CAN." Classist and mean, yes, but it gets the job done.

Seriously: university is not job training. People who think it is ought to either go to a vo/tech school or be denied the benefit of a university education altogether since they obviously are not able to grasp the point. :P
