this post is pretty useless.
So I totally never remembered to post the answers to this meme I did a month and a half ago.
1) Two power-plant workers temporarily adopt a poisonous child and foil an inter-dimensional abduction scheme. = Monsters, Inc. :D I love this description, haha.
2) Two teenagers help their emo friend get laid. Said friend kills himself when the postal service arrives late. = Romeo and Juliet, of course! I kind of thought everyone would get this one but then nobody did, at least not without some hinting.
3) Emotionally abused six-year old attends a school where the principal emotionally abuses everyone. Hilarity Ensues. = Matilda!
4) A guy's birthday screws up his love life and strains his relationship with his adoptive family. Who are pirates! = The Pirates of Penzance :D :D :D Everyone who didn't guess this one fails and needs to retake Sarah 101.
5) Tim Allen kills a man and is forced to assume his identity. = The Santa Clause. This one cracks me up. xD
6) Insurance salesman lives humdrum life completely unaware that he's the most famous person on the planet. = The Truman Show, such an awesome movie.
7) A crazy red-haired woman regularly subjects elementary-aged children to life-threatening situations without the knowledge of their parents. = Aw yeah Magic School Bus!
(Tangent: one evening in Peru we were talking about TV shows that make us all nostalgic, and someone said Magic School Bus, and I was like what the heck that show does not feel old to me at all. And then I came home and one of the first days I was back I was flipping channels and there it was! Seriously though, so not in the same category as Care Bears and She-Ra, let's get real here.)
(... but then I guess most of the other volunteers were younger than me. So maybe for them it was in that category, idk. D: )
8) Four self-interested adults talk. = Does it help if I say that they talk about nothing? xD This of course is Seinfeld!
9) Orphaned Street Urchin falls in love with Rebellious Princess, seduces her with the help of near-omnipotent comedian and a piece of fabric, and defeats the bad guy by trapping him in a device used for lighting. = Aladdin. I suspect this one was pretty obvious. :P
10) A psychic high school track star helps in the fight against Isaac Newton's evil mecha army on a highly improbable moon made by Atlanteans. = Aw yeah Escaflowne!
11) A girl enrolls in a mysterious academy where fencing is practically a way of life and everyone has issues. = Revolutionary Girl Utena. btw I STILL can't figure out whether I like this show or not.
12) A group of people are at the complete, utter mercy of a whimsical and cruel god who alternates between deleting their toilets and trapping them inside the very walls of their own homes. = Everyone's favourite computer game, The Sims!
13) An oddly named boy and his horse set upon destroying sixteen statues in order to revive his dead girlfriend. = Shadow of the Colossus, one of the best video games I know of.
14) A hyperactive homeless man reviews movies and asks for change. = lol Bum Reviews.
15) A pirate tricks a blacksmith into serving a man with a Scots accent and a Welsh name with an octopus for a head who lives in a Dutch submarine and plays the organ. = Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest! xD
16) A forty-five-minute-long low budget romantic comedy supervillian musical tragedy in the form of a video blog. = Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.
17) A squadron of insane soldiers try to not die in the war. Paradoxical bureaucracy gets in the way of that. = Catch-22! I seem to be failing at my quest to make everyone read this book. Not that I think it's THE BEST THING EVER or anything, but it was amusing and interesting and sometimes depressing and I want to have someone to talk about it with!!
18) Guy gets arrested because he can't read. Tries digging a tunnel out of prison, but never gets to use it. Proceeds to ruin nearly everyone else's lives. = And so continues my weird half-interest in The Count of Monte Cristo.
19) Half-naked orphan with nobility backstory deals with animals and lost civilizations. = The Tarzan books, come on guys!!
20) A whole lot of bizarre, frightening, and disturbing stuff happens to five traveling friends who are looking for a giant. It is not a horror movie. = So, uh. I totally couldn't remember what this one was. So, uh. I guess I can't blame any of you guys for not guessing it. But, uh. This one is The Brave Little Toaster. :D
