Sarah's favourite studying music <3
Thank you to everyone who indulged my request to hear your list of favourite Disney songs!! :D Now of course I am wondering how many of you are hardcore enough to make a list, however long or short you'd like, of your favourite Disney background music! >xD
ARE YOU UP TO THE CHALLENGE???
Honourable Mentions:
· "Jungle Beat," The Jungle Book
· "Tour of the Kingdom," The Little Mermaid
· that epic synth piece that really should've been included on the soundtrack, Mulan
10. "The Battle," Aladdin
I don't really have a favourite off this soundtrack, but when I think of it this is always the first track that I think of, so here it is. x) Also, I have definitely watched this movie so many times that I can't listen to the music without the dialogue running through my head as well, sigh. xD
9. "Paris Burning," The Hunchback of Notre Dame
This music plays during Frollo's search for Esmeralda. I can't listen to this soundtrack with my family nearby because they hear the Latin chorus and give me weird looks. :| I also really like "Sanctuary," especially the part at 1:39 that starts with a solo flute and then just suddenly gets huge!
8. "Run Llama Run," The Emperor's New Groove

I wish I could find a better video for you guys, but unfortunately this is all I've got. :/ The music starts thirty seconds in; it's the fantastic swing sort of music that plays during this movie's ridiculous chase sequence. xD
7. "Prologue," Beauty and the Beast
As great as this movie's opening narration is, I prefer to listen to the music by itself. It's beautiful but somehow also very creepy! Not gonna lie, I think the beginning of this movie is my favourite part, haha.
6. "The Gorillas," Tarzan
This is one of those soundtrack tracks made up of a couple different scenes smushed together, but the bulk of this is the climactic battle scene. "One Family," from the scene where Kala takes Tarzan to his parents' home, is a very close second. <3
5. "Wheel of Fortune," Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
This plays during the chase scene/fight scene on Isla Cruces, and I've rambled about it before so I guess I'll spare you this time. x) I also like "The Kraken." The music in this movie is so huge and epic and kind of overdone but I LOVE IT.
4. "Barbossa is Hungry," Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
The first Pirates soundtrack is not my favourite, because oh my goodness is it repetitive. But a few tracks stand out, such as this one, which plays during the fight between the Black Pearl and the Interceptor. It took me forever to really appreciate this track, but now I love it. I also enjoy "The Medallion Calls," which plays during Jack's very first scene. :D
3. "Cutting the Thread," Hercules
I listened to this soundtrack on repeat for pretty much my entire tenth grade year, I guess because I was working on a score for a Greek myth as a project for my Music Composition class and it was helpful to know someone else had done such a thing before? xD This is the music from the big battle at the end, including Meg's death; I think my favourite little part of it is when the "if I can be strong" line from Herc's song "Go the Distance" is played really softly and sadly at 3:01. Also off this soundtrack, I think "The Prophecy" is pretty cool.
2. "... To Die For," The Lion King
This is the music that plays during the wildebeest stampede, so it is simultaneously exciting and heartbreaking. It's kind of funny to me how, when I was a kid, I was always so tempted to fastforward through this movie to get to the songs, but now I am really quite indifferent to the songs and only want to listen to the score. xD "This Land" is another favourite.
1. "At Wit's End," Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
"At Wit's End" is here simply to represent the entire At World's End soundtrack, which is easily my most favourite of soundtracks. Say what you want about this movie's plot, its acting, or whatever, but insult the music and we are done professionally. It's so epic and the way the different themes are used in really different and sometimes unrecognizable ways (it took me AGES to realize that "Parlay" is the love theme all over again) is just awesome. If I had to pick a favourite track from this movie, it would be one that's not even on the official soundtrack, although some lovely fans have done their best to remove the sound effects so that we can listen to it more properly. I found it on YouTube under the fitting title "Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew" (ETA: a slightly clearer version); this is the score that plays after Will has been stabbed in the climactic battle. Starting from when the love theme kicks in at about 1:10, and especially when the chanting begins at 1:37, omg. I'm sure I love this score based more on its context than the actual music, but I don't care. It's awesome. <3
