get up and go hit the highway
OKAY EVERYONE
I KNOW I ASK THIS QUESTION LIKE EVERY YEAR BUT I'M ASKING IT AGAIN
I WANT TO KNOW YOUR TOP TEN FAVOURITE DISNEY SONGS!!
I'm limiting myself to just the animated movies, and one song per movie (and I'm leaving out "That's How You Know" because I already talked about it today) but you don't have to if you think a certain movie's soundtrack is vastly superior. xD
10. "One of Us," The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride
This is one of those movies where I listen to the soundtrack more than I watch the actual movie, lol. I think a lot of the songs were taken from the Broadway musical, but I don't remember whether or not this one was.
9. "I Wanna Be Like You," The Jungle Book
I have a secret love for The Jungle Book. x)
8. "Once Upon a Dream," Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty is here to represent the old guard! I dislike the way Philip comes in all HEY LET ME MACK ON YOU, but this song is such a Disney classic. x)
7. "Portobello Road," Bedknobs and Broomsticks
The first comment on this video: "so he's really pimpin Portobello road out to her, then they show up and he talks shit to EVERYBODY." Oh my god, I am dying. xDDD
(This song goes on forever, with a huge dance break in the middle. Mainly I just like the parts where they're singing.)
Also: I have heard Bedknobs and Broomsticks referred to as a lesser Mary Poppins, but HATERS TO THE LEFT because I have always liked Bedknobs and Broomsticks better.
6. "Prince Ali (Reprise)," Aladdin
"Friend Like Me" and "Prince Ali" are AWESOME live, while I've never seen this one quite work. (Seriously, stop staging this song with people just standing around!) But in the movie it's my favourite.
5. "Hellfire," The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Who else remembers watching this movie for the first time and not understanding 100% what this song was about? Believe it or not, I used to be even more naive than I am now! xD
4. "A Star is Born," Hercules
Why yes, my favourite song from Hercules is indeed the song that plays over the end credits. xD;
Also: when the California Adventure Aladdin show ended, I was really really hoping that it would be replaced with a Hercules show, because could you imagine how awesome that would be?? But silly me, I forgot how Disney likes to pretend that Hercules doesn't exist. :/
3. "Worthless," The Brave Little Toaster
I love the instrumentals in this song. And like everything else about this song. Brave Little Toaster is only kinda sorta Disney but I had to sneak it in here because it is amazing!
I spent all of Cars waiting for a reference to this song and I never ever got one. :|
2. "Son of Man," Tarzan
This song just makes me really happy, I dunno why. x)
1. "Poor Unfortunate Souls," The Little Mermaid
I've already rambled and rambled about this song and its pure awesomeness on previous occasions, so I guess I'll spare you this time. ;)
I would say I'm sorry for posting twice in one evening about essentially the same thing, but ... I'm not. :D

1. I'll Make a Man Out Of You - Mulan - whether it's Donny Osmond in English or Jackie Chan in Mandarin I effin' LOVE this song. Best treadmill song ever.
2. Son of Man - Tarzan - I love this one too and I don't get it because I don't so much love Phil Collins. I also kind of love Strangers Like Me.
3. Savages - Pocahontas - I also don't know why I love this one, I just do. I didn't even love that flick so much but that song is cool.
4. Circle of Life - Lion King - Classic as motherfuck. The whole intro in Zulu is something I just totally dig. It's also the reason I love Baba Yetu from Civ IV, just the whole tribal chant sound is awesome.
5. Part of Your World - The Little Mermaid - This song is memories, man. My best friend and I used to sing this when the movie came out, we were like, six, and we'd take turns pretending to be Ariel. Good times.
6. Goodbye May Seem Forever - The Fox and the Hound - No Disney song reduces me to bawling like a baby like this one, jesus fuck.
7. Go the Distance - Hercules - Michael Bolton makes me LOL for real. For some reason this song just reduces me to giggles every time.
8. A Whole New World - Aladdin - I can remember when we decided to have Disney Music Day in the club spaces in college, and my then-friend-now-boyfriend-of-five-years were standing on the desk pretending it was a magic carpet, singing this.
9. Once Upon a Dream - Sleeping Beauty - Fantastic song. I think it made that movie for me.
10. Beauty and the Beast - (Obvious) - I think I still have a VHS tape of my two best friends singing this in a musical in like 7th grade. Whenever I hear this song I remember that night. I was working stage crew and set design, but I watched from the wings.

2. "Strangers Like Me" is so good! I actually heard it playing in the drug store the other day, oddly enough.
3. "Savages" is my favourite part of Pocahontas, I can't even lie. The reprise is really cool too.
6. I haven't watched that movie in forever just because I think it'll really make me bawl. D:
8. ahahaha, that's such a classic duet song. xD
10. That's awesome that you were doing stage crew and set design in seventh grade! We didn't get to do any of that sort of stuff until high school. Even then I didn't do as much of it as I would've liked to.
