What would any of you be willing to do?
Oh man, I avoided doing anything with my Mixi account for the longest time because I didn't really understand how to do anything on the site, but now that I've started sending messages and stuff, oh my gosh. These people are so crazy nice. I feel like I should be more cynical and look at it more like "They're only nice because they want you to help them with their English!" but shut up you guys!! It's lovely to receive such polite and cheerful e-mails from practically total strangers, haha. *^_^*
THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS ENTRY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT. As you may already know, I spent all day in anticipation of wobbly-legged, rum-soaked PIRATES!
So
the_wykydtron came to join me in my fangirling, and since she arrived a half hour early, I forced her to watch "Hercules and the Aetolian Amphora" because it's the episode with young!Megara (I always forget there are two episodes with Meg and as such have yet to force her to watch "Hercules and the Yearbook," although I'm sure it's only a matter of time). I had forgotten how convoluted that episode seems when you're watching it for the first time! Hahaha. And then we watched the first half of the Aladdin episode "Love at First Sprite," because it was the next thing on the tape, and I don't think
the_wykydtron is heartbroken that she didn't get to see the ending, but I am definitely heartbroken that we had to stop watching it in the middle of the episode's best scene (Iago trying to host a civil dinner and Abu totally destroying it, hahaha - it reminds me of Malcolm in the Middle when that show was in its better days which is perhaps why the scene amuses me now though it never did before). Then it was time for Dancing in the Stars which is not really my sort of TV show. And I didn't even recognize anyone this time!! The biggest name to me was the dude from *NSync who wasn't Justin Timberlake. Hahaha. So instead of actually watching that, I whipped out my portable DVD player and we watched some old school (by which I mean 2004, but man, watching that, I dunno, I feel like it's a totally old school concert) Morning Musume. :D I only got to sort of enjoy it, though, haha, because I was keeping an eye on the TV to make sure we weren't missing the commercials, when the PotC3 trailer was due to appear. XD;
Remember that time I wrote an angry letter to CBC after they totally infiltrated ABC's showing of some movie or another that was supposed to include a ten-minute preview of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? Perhaps it's good if you don't remember because it's not one of my better moments. But Canadian TV apparently hates me and every other Canadian who suffered through Dancing hoping to catch a glimpse of everyone's favourite pirate, because they did not at all show the PotC3 trailer. CTV, YOU OWE ME TWO HOURS OF MY LIFE, I DON'T CARE THAT YOU HAD A FANCY PANTS COMMERCIAL FEATURING JON AND STEPHEN AND MY BOY JOHN (speaking of John, last Thursday I finally broke down and named a character "Jesse," haha, but I am quite proud of myself for holding out for a good ten years), WE ARE THROUGH!!!!!
After such a crushing disappointment, we hurried down to the computer, cranked the speakers, and located the PotC3 trailer on Yahoo! Movies. And as soon as that clip of the spinning spinning compass was onscreen, oh man, I think my heart grew three sizes tonight. I am so excited for this movie I can't even tell you. So excited. I feel like I pay much less attention to upcoming movies than most people do. So when I do pay attention to something not yet released, I feel like it's rather a big deal. The number of movies I have actually cared about before their release I can count on one hand. Add all my excitement for all those movies together and you have how excited I am about this. It is INTENSE. And I am way glad that the trailer played straight through the first time I asked it to, without the interruption of buffering. Unfortunately, after that first time through, it decided it hates me. ;_; BUFFERING ... BUFFERING ... BUFFERING ... XD;;;;
Hahaha, wow, in the past two and a half hours since we dashed down to the computer to watch this thing, Yahoo! has totally redone their page for it. XD That's amusing.
More of my crazy obsessive ramblings, in an order to match the trailer:
- The sun at the beginning makes me think of The Mummy. XD Interesting that they go from SUN! SUN! SUN! to ICE! ICE! ICE! XD
- People like to make fun of Elizabeth's new outfit but I think she looks quite pretty in it.
- I dig the sound effect synced to the PotC2 image of Barbossa coming down the stairs. I am way curious as to how they are going to start this movie. Start with the final PotC2 scene? I hope not, how tacky. Just keep going straight from the end of PotC2? Might be a little awkward. Start somewhere further ahead in the story and explain what happened inbetween? The best way to do it, in my opinion. Although any of these options could be dreadfully terrible or fantastically awesome, right, just depending on how it's done. XD;
- My brother: "There isn't ice in the Caribbean!!" XD XD XD XD XD
- Love the shot of Barbossa covered in ice. Who's that freezing behind him? Elizabeth? Before I paused it there to specifically look to see who that was, I thought it was some mystery man. XD;; Whoops? Love how Barbossa looks so weary.
- What is that? The Black Pearl underwater? I don't know, but it's sure an awesome shot. <3
- I love how trailers can be so crazy epic. I actually really enjoy watching trailers. Not so much for comedies, and not really so much for animation even (weird), but for big epics or dramatic movies or things like that. I had this idea once, that I should find some trailer I really like but one where I don't intend to see the movie, and I should write a story or a novel or a something based on the trailer, and what story I think would go to it. Actually, I should totally do that for my NaNo2007. I think that would be awesome. XD Hopefully a nice, useable trailer will come out before November, then ... XD XD XD XD XD (I was going to talk about how I think trailers or even clip shows are often a lot more "wow~~~ this is so awesome~~~" than the actual movies or shows themselves, but that's not what this entry is about!!! hahaha.)
- Having Tia Dalma's question from the end of PotC2 sort of narrate the beginning of the PotC3 trailer is actually a really nice effect. And I hardly even noticed it until this time round, it just works so nicely. I <3 Tia Dalma. So much.
(- Is there no mention of rum in this trailer? At all? Really? XD XD XD;; )
- Love the camerawork for the "witty Jack" part. Like something sneaking up on him!! I wonder if it'll actually be like that in the film or if they sped it up in the trailer to make it exciting and so they could use that swooshing sound. XD;
- And now the longer version of a clip I had seen thanks to Movie Surfers. XD; Elizabeth looks so pretty! (I usually try not to be this shallow but shut up, I'm excited. XD )
- Ahahahaha, Jack loves you, Jack! XD;;;;;;;
- I hope that slow motion on the shot of the boots is only for the trailer. o_O; The pseudo slow motion at the end of PotC2 still weirds me out! XD
-
the_wykydtron: "Johnny is good at standing on things." XD Hahaha, he totally is. I'm always amazed now when I watch PotC and Jack's introduction approaches and I'm like "HERE IT COMES, THIS IS THE BEST SCENE IN THE MOVIE, HERE WE GO!!!!" and what is that scene, really? Johnny Depp ... standing. XD Oh, I hope Jack gets a fantastic intro scene in PotC3. His intro in PotC2 is ... okay, but not half as good as the first one, in my opinion. But at the same time, PotC3, how could he not have a good introduction? He's been dead! XD;
- Here is something embarrassing but I'm in a way fangirl mood so here you go: I quite dig Orlando in that loose shirt. XD hehehehehehehe!! NOW ALL MY FRIENDS ARE GOING TO MAKE FUN OF ME FOR FINDING WILL MORE ATTRACTIVE THAN JACK EVEN WHEN HE SO IS!!! XD XD XD XD XD XD XD XD;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
- "Why should I sail with any of you? Four of you've tried to kill me in the past! One of you succeeded." Oh man, this is my favourite part of the entire trailer. XD I am still kind of like "eeeeeeeeeehh" about all the slapstick humour in PotC2, I'm hoping there will be less of that in PotC3, and more of the humour through dialogue that was to be found in PotC. <333
- Regarding the same line: Jack says four of them have tried to kill him -- Elizabeth, Barbossa, Will? Does Will count? He knocks Jack out in PotC and holds a sword to his throat in PotC2, but he never planned to kill him, I wouldn't say. So now I wonder if he does something in PotC3 to get himself included in that four. XD And then who? Tia Dalma? Something in their past? Something to do with the Jar of Dirt? Something totally different? Someone totally different? I don't read PotC fan theories (I read Harry Potter theories aplenty but reading PotC theories has just never appealed to me) but I do love to ponder these questions. XD Or it could be that I'm hearing Jack's line totally wrong and he's saying "all of you've tried to kill me in the past." Someone comment and tell me what he's saying!! XD
- I love the looks exchanged after "One of you succeeded." XD Oh man. That's fantastic. XD;;;;; I feel like such a huge dork but this is so my favourite part of the trailer. XD XD XD XD XD XD;;;
- Davy Jones looks great, as always. I really think he is a fantastic example of computer animation. And I loved the theory
the_wykydtron came up with after one of our trips through Pirates of the Caribbean. I, uh, kind of forget what it was, but it involved the "Ah, but they [dead men] do tell tales" line that Davy Jones has in the ride. What was that theory,
the_wykydtron? Jack ... is ... dead? XD;;;;;;;;; Or was that the theory you came up with that I shot down because no duh, Jack is dead!! XD Oh well. I nevertheless cherish the memory. XD;;;;;;;
- I liked Norrington better with scruffy hair. :(
- Will!!!! ;_; That shot of him so unhappy makes me feel so sad for him~~~~ ;_; I used to think Will was the dopiest character ever, and I mean he's still not the sharpest Crayon in the box or anything, but PotC2 totally redeemed him for me. I think it started when I realized that Will's bone cage sequence is a thousand times more interesting than Jack's shish kabob sequence. At first I cried, "WILL SHOULD NEVER BE MORE INTERESTING THAN JACK! WHAT IS THIS, BIZARRO WORLD?" and then I was like, "Hey, Will's actually kind of cool in this movie." XD; So now I quite like him, though I do my best to hide it. XD
- Beckett kind of bores me in this trailer. I hope he's more interesting in the movie. I really like watching him in PotC2. (I hope this doesn't turn out to be like how I sometimes think Risako is an excellent performer and sometimes I think she is the most boring girl in Hello! Project ...)
- What is with that negative effect on that one shot of Barbossa and Elizabeth? They couldn't figure out how else to make it match the music? Hahaha. :P
- I am copying what
the_wykydtron said to me, but! Though I was weirded out by the concept of some big pirate gathering thing back when I was reading the trailer descriptions, seeing parts of it onscreen do make it a bit more appealing. Although I'm still not a hundred percent convinced of its awesomeness. XD;
- "It would never've worked out between us" HAHAHAHAHA I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!! I feel like this trailer totally assumes that its audience has seen PotC2, but at the same time it apparently believes we forgot how that movie ended. XD Haha oh well, none of that stops me from totally digging this line. XD The random stuff Jack says as he exits at the end of PotC is awesome. I love that they brought one of those lines back. XD I wish I could convey in words how brilliant I think this is. XD
- Oh, Elizabeth ... I'm not convinced I care for that hat. XD Hahahahaha!!
- I hope the pirates don't all die ... :( That would be depressing ... :( :( :(
- Love that shot of Jack, hahaha. "Huh?" hahaha. XD If that same shot was in the PotC2 trailer, I would've hated it. NOT TODAY!!! XD
- Okay, it is pretty hard for me to see a ship sailing over sand and not think of everyone's favourite raider of the lost shark. XD;; Hopefully when I see this scene I will be able to do so without thinking "SOME THINGS ARE WORTH MORE THAN TREASURE!!!@$@!!!!" the whole time, har har har. XD XD XD XD
- Cotton et al. throwing swords up to Barbossa and Elizabeth through the floorboards?? It is a little bit "HEY LOOK WE'RE AN ACTION FLICK!!!" but at the same time I think it's way awesome and hardcore. XD I saw that outfit of Elizabeth's on a picture of a PotC3 action figure and was like "What on earth is she wearing?" but I think it looks a bit better on an actual person. Not sure about the Mary Jane shoes though, hahaha why am I being so critical of the clothes in this movie? It's not like I even really care. Man, I wonder how many costume changes are going to be in this movie. It looks like almost everyone (except Barbossa?) gets new clothes. XD
- "Will you marry me?" I AM A TOTAL GIRL BUT I LOVE THAT PART. XD!!!! My brother: "Haven't they already been through this? Doesn't he hate her now?" NO SHUT UP IT'S ROMANTIC!!!!!
- Jack and Davy Jones fighting way up in the rigging (I have no knowledge of ship terminology) TOTALLY just made me flashback to Peter Pan. XD Is that why Jack's holding onto that barrel thing? He promised to fight using only one hand? Har har har ... XD;;; (Or wait, is his hand stuck inside that thing? Is he like Mozenrath now? Is his hand payment for being brought back to life? Or am I being as ridiculous as I think I am?)
- I am glad this trailer continues the PotC tradition of choreographing the music to the swordfight. XD hahaha~
- Will pointing two guns, maybe that's the part where he tries to kill Jack? Or maybe I'm just MAKING STUFF UP!!!!
- Will with a bandana on his head, that is one hundred percent unnecessary. XD XD XD XD;;;
- In the Legend of Jack Sparrow video game I always unintentionally get hurt by things blowing up at me ... that is what I am reminded of by the clip of the explosion. :P
- ... Is Jack's hand stuck inside that thing? o_O; ... Ow?
- More sea-people, awsm!
- I like the shot of Barbossa and Elizabeth and Jack walking along the beach because it reminds me of one of my favourite shots of PotC2, Norrington and Elizabeth and Jack walking to the spot where they will dig up the chest. <3
- Love that this trailer makes NO mention of the heart whatsoever. XD I keep forgetting about that thing! Hahaha, that's probably not good ...
- I am glad they didn't shove in a random shot of SEA SPONGE SPARROW OH GOD GET A BETTER NAME, but where is Bootstrap? :(
WAIT--
That brief shot of the dude covered in barnacles and other sea sort of stuff, could that be Bootstrap? I don't think it really looks like him ... and if he really has become that much a part of the sea I'll be sad, Will has to save him! :( ... but I also want Bootstrap to be in the trailer ... I dunno though, it doesn't really look like him ... but maybe?
- Why does Tia Dalma not get any lines in this trailer? Why is the question from PotC2 all she gets? :( She totally dominated the PotC2 trailer and that was back before anyone even knew who she was! I am sad. I am not feeling the Tia Dalma love. :(
- I am totally sure this movie will be exactly the opposite of how I imagine it to be, just like PotC2 was, but this doesn't stop me from being painfully excited. XD
- So we watched this trailer, and one of the first things I thought upon it finishing was: "I am one hundred percent sure PotC will replace Aladdin as my favourite movie trilogy ever." I know this sounds like a meaningless statement, since most people see the Aladdin movie trilogy as a fantastic blockbuster from Disney's latest Golden Age that was then followed by two awful sequels, but surely you know well of my undying love for King of Thieves. Return of Jafar better endear itself to me quick, hahahahaha, because here come the pirates!! XD XD XD
I am torn between desperately wanting it to be May 25th and desperately not wanting May 25th to ever come, because when it comes then that will be the end of the PotC trilogy and I know there's been talk of a fourth one but as far as I can tell, nothing's been confirmed. It seems to me that it's easy to accept a stand-alone film as being over, because you knew there would never be sequels. But now that PotC has sequels, I feel like, "You can't just keep making sequels for the rest of my life? Really? Are you sure? Why not? :( :( :( :( " It is going to be bad, you guys. The end of PotC is going to crush me way worse than the end of Harry Potter, although I think more people will be crushed by the latter, no matter what actually happens in the book. XD And speaking of Harry Potter, my dad sent me an article today that talked about how Emma Watson has lost the desire to play Hermione. Man, this sucks. I think she is so awesome. How could anyone else ever be Hermione? I guess I can always hope that if Emma doesn't agree to do the sixth and seventh movies, instead of replacing her they'll just cut Hermione out ... XD XD XD XD XD;;;;
I was going to say something else about PotC but I think I'll leave that for another time. It took me an hour longer to write this entry than I thought I would, and so it is now an hour past my bedtime. XD; I've been a bad student so many times over today! XD!!
THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS ENTRY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT. As you may already know, I spent all day in anticipation of wobbly-legged, rum-soaked PIRATES!

I was going to say something else about PotC but I think I'll leave that for another time. It took me an hour longer to write this entry than I thought I would, and so it is now an hour past my bedtime. XD; I've been a bad student so many times over today! XD!!

Anyway, I watched the trailer BECAUSE YOU TOLD ME TO. Alas, I watched it on youtube with the suckiest quality ever, so mainly I'm just confused. It looked exciting though... I think it would be really neat if they included sand-ships (ships which sail on sand, usually light skiff sorts of things, with big sails. They were totally in this filler episode of One Piece).
I enjoyed the monkey. I have nothing to say about any of the clothes comments, because I couldn't make out anyone's clothes, really. Or anything else for that matter. Geez, May seems like a long way away. I don't want it to be summer, though. I don't want to have to find a job. *whinewhine*
Monkey!
You wouldn't have watched the trailer if I hadn't told you to? Really? Aren't you as excited as I am???? How is it even possible to NOT be this excited?????!!!!!
Yahoo! Movies has the trailer in higher quality if you want. It's still a bit confusing because some of the cuts are so fast. Half of the stuff in my entry I made up. WOW, I REALLY LIKED THAT QUARTER-SECOND SHOT OF WHOEVER THAT WAS!!!
I have no idea what the ship in the trailer is doing on the sand. The same thing it was doing in the second movie? haha. I love that you totally knew it was a filler episode. Do they try to hide the fact that they're filler episodes?
The monkey is pretty awesome. XD Although I think the "We named the monkey Jack" part is always going to be my favourite shot of the monkey. XD I HOPE THEY DON'T BRING THE DOG BACK AGAIN OH MY GOSH I JUST REMEMBERED THE DOG AND NOW I AM MAD!!!!
When we were driving ... somewhere ... once, Mom pointed in the general direction of your new house, and you know I'm terrible at geography so maybe I'm just making up that it's close to the ferries, but ANYWAY BCFerries is looking for seasonal employees to sell tickets, there's a form on their web site you just print out and fill out. If you care.
I want it to be summer ... I'm not hugely excited to go back to work, but I do want to be out of class and closer to the triple whammy that will be PotC3 and HP7 and HP5 (although I keep forgetting which one's first, haha). :D
ALSO YOU HAVE TO COME HOME SO I CAN GIVE YOU YOUR SOUVENIR!!!
