Yeah, I'm not going to be one to defend Kelly Clarkson's lyrics. The grammar point you noted really bothered me when I first heard the song, but I think now I've just heard the song so many times I've gotten used to how it doesn't gel. But more than her grammar, it just bothers me how VAGUE her lyrics are. She always tells and never shows and she never uses any sort of concrete image. EVARRRR. I suppose the lyrics suit their purpose, but man, they would make disastrous poetry.
